Yeah we all love those songs but I think the time and climates right to drop them from the set.The guys appear to be kicking off 2006 with a new found confidence. So why not ditch these well played warhorses and try:
Around and around Come on Carol Parachute woman Let it rock Highwire
Going by the lame audience participation at Stones gigs these days, it's not as if the atmosphere could actually get any quieter by getting shut of the autopilot warhorses.
The only thing thats gonna drop is me when I finally nod off from reading these threads! Obviously they aint gonna leave out their most famous songs cause a few die-hard fans are bored of them.....
a stones concert without Brown sugar? No way. doing the yeah, yeah, woo is simply the most fun you can have with your clothes on. I do think the band should play more straight forward rock and roll like the ones listed but please dont drop BS!
DiMaggio, when asked why/how he still could go all-out at his age, responded that maybe there was some kid seeing him play for the first time and he owed that kid his best (or, something to that effect).
Some kid seeing the Rolling Stones for the first time deserves to hear Brown Sugar and Start Me Up. If people who have been to 8 billion shows are sick of hearing them or think there's no magic in them anymore, or whatever your gripes about them may be, they're being played for that kid, not for you.
Don't think the band still gets off on playing them, but would it be fair to "that kid" if they left them out?
I think they should play Brown Sugar with an acoustic instead of an electric guitar. We play it that way sometimes, and it really breathes life into the song....it's risky though
Dump Midnight Rambler, Miss You, Honky Tonk Women, Sympathy For The Devil, Start Me Up, Brown Sugar, You Can't Always Get What You Want, You Can't Always Get What You Want, You Can't Always Get What You Want and Satisfaction. Suffices to keep Jumping Jack Flash.
That gives plenty of free slots to be filled with new songs from ABB. Such as It Won't Take Long, Neo Con, Laugh I Nearly Died etc. pp.

Why donĀ“t you just sEnD a meaningful message? PARACHUTE WOMAN is a really heavy blues, play it with 2 hard guitars and blow the @#$%& roof off!

i can deal with bs and smu if i get worried about you or memory notel or gimmie shelter or sway or respectable or dead flowers or sweet virginia in chicago!
"They can't drop Brown Sugar -- they have that vid of the babe fondling the empire state building."
Which is basically saying, "They can't be rock'n'roll because their stage show is ruled by videos", (rather than by music).
Bob Dylan still throws in a good number of Greatest Hits - but maybe cos he feels like playing them and less because the crowd (or a video-screen) demand it.
