First Stones video or promo you ever saw

The first video I ever saw from the Stones was ER. That was before MTV. I think it was on a show called "Friday Night Videos" or something like that. Ahhh, the good old days.

I saw "Sympathy" from Altamont! A sort of rock-history-TV-show in the 80s.

SNL IN '78. My dad still thinks Mick is a fag for licking Woodie's lips.

That part always cracks me up. One of Mick's greatest moments. My Dad thinks every British guy is a fag.

Don Kirschner's Rock Concert, circa 1973, with all except Mick lip-synching "Angie" and Mick Taylor pretending to play piano.

Don Kirschner was a geeky-looking guy. I remember thinking it was odd the way he introduced the Rolling Stones, "Here's my good friend Mick Jagger and his Rolling Stones."

Here's the video:

Or maybe it was this version of "Angie":

And here's another one from the Rolling Stones circa mid 1970s -- "Till the Next Time." Taylor's hat is hilarious, and no one is playing the piano:

Here's "It's Only Rock and Roll," with the band drowning in soap suds:

my theather showed this right before: A Hard Days Night...

Saw some of "Ladies & Gentlemen" in the mid-70's and SNL, but first real video was "Waiting On A Friend".

She's So Cold on Friday night videos. Other than the JJF vid, this is still my favorite! Love it when Mick wags his finger at Ron and the varios expressions on Keith's face.

My mother was listening to the stones so I knew them but wasn't specially into them (was majorly hooked on Jacques Brel!) until a short TV news passage in 1990, Steel WHeels tour in Marseille, Jagger singing start me up and lifting his arms on every 'Up', in his long red jacket. I still don't know what got me so much! But here it all started.

Harlem Shuffle actually, but it was in 1991. The music teacher showed it to us as an exemple of a modern clip.

He also showed a Paula Abdul clip.

This is a great post...

Mine was IORR with the bubbles.

My dad was appalled, but I couldn't believe a grown man (Mick) could act like that !!

I loved it.

Well, my grandma w a s great! I still do remember there
were 2 films showing that day. She asked me which one I wanted...
and I said..."Well, grandma, I even have a record of them , so
let´s see the Stones".

Inside the cinema were 3 people...grandma, me and another dude.

So my first "live" experience was an 81 show;-)

The Start Me Up video. Ronnie was hilarious with his straight face. And that moustache that he had? Freakin' hilarious IMO.

The video where they are in a small room with checkerboard walls. I have no idea what song they were singing, but I remember it very well. It could have been SMU.

Anyone have the "videos" from Black and Blue.

I think there was one for Hey Negrita.

The other one slips my mind.

I guess they are kind of rare?

I'm feeling much love for the Stones tonight for some reason.

Wish I could be at MSG right now.

The first video I ever saw of the Stones was She's So Cold. Then Start Me Up hit MTV and I never saw SSC on MTV again. I have to give the video for Hang Fire and honorable mention here as well. Loved it....but the lip-syncing was way off as I recall.

The first was the Harlem Shuffle video, which I disliked. I became a Stones fan after seeing the Barcelona concert that was aired in Holland somewhere in 1990.

I had a similar experience, but not with my grandma. I saw it with an old cousin of mine: I was 10 and he was 27 at the time. My eternal thanks to him !!

About promo videos, I think it was She Was Hot or Too Much Blood...

i grew up watching the Stones on Ed Sullivan, Hullabaloo etc, but i really don't remember the firsy time i saw a promo video per se.
