if they ever do a tour of Morrocco, though, it will surely make the setlist...

It would be nice to hear it with a fatter production than that tinny Steel Wheels sound. Excellent song... but I also like "Can You Hear the Music" so what do I know.

A great track. One of the few real original Jagger/Richards tracks since the BIG 4

No; I just wanted to make that stupid "speed of light" joke. I hang my head in shame.

Great song. That and Slipping Away are about the only songs from Steel Wheels that have held up, although I still have a soft spot for Mixed Emotions, which is and will probably always remain their last top ten hit.

"Almost Hear You Sigh" is good, too, though a bit of a "Beast of Burden " recycle.

>> in 25 by 5 when they are recording the track and Keiths says "we need another chord in there "

that's Mixed Emotions, isn't it?

>> Almost Hear You Sigh is good, too, though a bit of a Beast of Burden recycle. <<

Keith's working title for it was apparently Cousin of Beast of Burden ... ah yeah, here it is:

When you're playing something like that, the obvious thing you start hitting is the soul licks. When we first did Almost Hear You Sigh, I played it very much like Beast of Burden. In fact, it was TOO much like it, so I called it Cousin of Beast of Burden (laughs) - I don't know if it was going to get any further than a poor relative. But as we started to add the bridge part and it started to open up for me, then I thought to myself exactly what you said - Curtis Mayfield. It's that style. Curtis is the king of that.
- Keith Richards, 1989 (from timeisonourside.com)

"What do you want - what?!"
- Keith

aha!... Well, ahem, keith knows what he's talking about some of the time. ;-) No, they did a great job of arranging it differently, b/c I didn't notice the similarity until I picked out the riff on guitar the other day. The nylon string solo helps, but mick sings in a different style, at least until the end bit ("I don't need no photogray-aff").
