When I go back in IORR-Tell Me history the earliest page is from december 2004, so somewhat over a year old. Is this due to maintenance or have the years beyond that simply been deleted because of lack of webspace? There were some interesting threads there worth to look up and of course the previous years were a great database.

I have decided to remove all IORR Forum pages older than 12 months. The reason is more than one. First of all the forum is verbal. Talking. After a while it should not be around anymore. Important information should be published on the IORR web. If you see important info on IORR Tell Me that should survive 12 months "life" then please ask me to publish it. Secondly because some people dig out really old stuff and start responding to it. Then people get confused.
I respect your decision Björnulf but see this as a great pity. The forum is verbal, but it's also written - and sometimes extremely well written - by very knowledgeable people with often interesting opinions. I see these threads as a parallel history to that of the official one, a sort of underground or fans' history. Without a 'memory' IORR becomes just a mere chatbox.
Are they completely gone or have you backfiled them somewhere?

As far as I'm concerned bv has made the right decision. If there are topics people consider informative they can access that stuff during a period of 12 months. So they'll have plenty of time to find the requested information. Btw, I won't miss all those obsolete threads that turn up once in a while.
I guess I'll survive, but I find it a little bad. I actually just recently used quite informative threads from 2003 when looking for info on ticketsales in various countries. Stuff like that won't just re-appear...., so IF there'll be another tour it should be taken into consideration how to save this kind of information. The whole forum is however a mixture of "live talking" and loads of essential background info/historical facts etc. The latter should be kept. Somehow. Perhaps the structure of the forum needs to be changed a little...?? One thing is sure : You have to be careful when throwing out "historical sources"....
I can check if it is possible to keep pre-2006 data as read only. It could be a technical feature. You know as long as people want to talk about other people and privacy cleaning up is quite important. If it was a perfect world and people could respect other people's need of privacy then everything could be available at all times. But I see the need and the advantage, and I will look into it.

I've thought this myself. I'm guessing bv is so busy with all the work he does for IORR that he doesn't have time to take on the additional work. But there's nothing stopping any of us from archiving this site; I have printed out some threads I wanted to keep, a few on paper but most I printed to a PDF and then burned onto a CD. Anybody could do this and could also go through it and pick out whatever highlights they wanted.
There is a magazine every 3 months. It is called It's Only Rock'n Roll, most recent issue no. 55 was mailed out this week in fact, with the best parts of reports, pictures, great stories and updates about the shows from Montreal January to Radio City Music Hall last week, including complete set list matrixes, show lists and comments on rumoured shows etc, plus Rio Copacabana, great stage shot Superbowl etc. The whole idea with the IORR magazine is to have the most important stoff for that period of time in one place, so that you can bring it handy or read it any time you like it, later on.
No actual edited reports or web pages are ever deleted on IORR. They are just moved around and you may still see them linked up from the News pages and Out Of Time. So there are now 10 years of live Stones events reported and filed on IORR, since the start in 1996.
The IORR Forum will be rolled out and may be stored. The Forum pages are more verbal. Some posts do not deserve to be backed up, others are great and should h<ave been there forever. I will take a 2nd look at how and if I will bring back old posts, but as long ast the guys are on tour I think that will be a project for the future.

I know about your magazine, have all. Used to buy them but they are not in the bookshops no more(Holland) wich is a shame, cause I thought it was and think It still is a wonderfull magazine! I was thinking, of a best of forum..and of course it ave to be filtered. Thanks for ya answer.Rock on. Cindy C wants an answer from you also BV>I salute you.
I remember a story by a guy named:"Fredluvzstones". In this post he told the story how he and his wife got into the Vredenburg-gig during "Licks". A great story. This one should stay on "tell me" forever. Grtz Ger
You know such stories should have been sent to me as an e-mail so that they could have ben published within the concept of the web site. You would need to search for it in order to find it, and it would take time, while placing it as a show report for Vredenburg would be the right way to do it. But I do never copy from IORR Forum pages to reviews. A review must arrive by e-mail to me from the person who wrote it. Principle.
One of the aspects that distinguishes this site from many of the other Stones sites is the interest many board members have in technical knowledge about guitars, amps, and other equipment as well as about how to play songs, etc. Recently, there have been interesting and useful threads about Keith's guitars and the band's amps.
I second the motion to make those equipment threads permanent.
