i don't know whether to put these in this thread or the "Keith's Very Early Guitars" thread, but:
a couple of shots of Keith with a reverse Firebird - it's also a VII, right?
was this one Brian's?

thanks Toru A - would you mind moving that to the thread that's all about Keith's Juniors?
it'll be really happy over there! here's the link: [iorr.org]
thanks very much

thank you very kindly, Toru A!
i guess we need a thread about Keith's latter-day nonJunior well-known Gibsons ... but since we're here:
there's also this shot of Keith backstage with an LP Goldtop in 75

You know now that I see it I realize that I have seen relatively few shots of Keith in 75 with a Les Paul.

I've seen a 3 sets of pics of keith with that style of gold top and in each one the guitar has different tuners. I have some doubts that they are all the same guitar though, what with all the thefts and so on.

yeah, the Goldtops are already in the "Keith's Very Early Guitars" thread ...
the photo's even properly credited over there, if memory serves. :E

... did i hear someone say "it seems Keith was doing some PR for Gibson circa 75"??

here's a shot from the Gibson Archives of Keith & Ronnie's 1975 visit to the Gibson plant:

- 1975, courtesy of the Gibson Archives

i also found an article where someone says it looks like a Les Paul 55 that Keith's holding there, while Ronnie seems to have an L6S.

the article also mentions that in 1989 Gibson presented Ronnie with a black custom L5S with a single humbucker that he was still using in 97, and that
"in the book Gibson Guitars: 100 Years of an American Icon, there's a picture of Keith with the same guitar.
A query to Gypsy Carnes, who worked in Entertainment Relations at the time, revealed that Gibson actually made two identical L-5S guitars for the Stones."

does anyone happen to have any photos of those? and/or know what they used them for?

Is that the Gibson plant in Kalamazoo or Nashville?

so what is that guitar in the Hannover photo above?

>> so what is that guitar in the Hannover photo above? <<

see page two of this thread: one idea is that it's a Spirit,
the other that it's a late-70s LP Special (both Gibsons, of course!).
looking at Spirits, i don't see any that have that same configuration of controls,
so my vote goes to the late-70s LP Special theory.

As it has 4 volume/tone controls - not 3, and by the shape of the pick guard - I'd say it's a late-70s LP Special with Dimarzio pickups.

Keith uses this guitar also on the song Nothing for Nothing in 1976 besides the promo videos.

Do Keith this guitar used only in Hannover on this tour and for which song he used the guitar? Very interesting

>> Do Keith this guitar used only in Hannover <<

if you look at page two of this thread there are some other photos of Keith with this guitar.
it looks like he used it at Turin and Frankfurt as well as Hannover.
it would be cool to know for what number(s) - Beast of Burden, maybe?
as far as i know the only other Special Keith's ever used on stage was that TV-yellow one
for Beast of Burden in 78.

moving right along ... what has Keith got here?
and did he ever use it for anything outside of the Respectable promo?

This is a 63 MM, not with an added humbucker, (with respect Mat). Look closely, and you'll see it's a standard dual-pickup MM with two sgl.-coils. The single cut version was still i production in 2007, but the dual pickup conversion is today discontinued.

You are right, I stand corrected! I have had a poster taken during this clip hanging on the walls of my room was I was young (in '53), and ever since I thought it was a humbucker!

Thanks for pointing out.

That's the one, only Wood was completely visible on mine. I can't see the humbucker at all here, so something's went foggy in 25 years....

Has keith ever mentioned in recent history a desire to play or miss his black beauty guitars?
