Revisited -- the original Elvis Presley Band

The best white boy rock n' roll band ever? These guys (Elvis, Scotty Moore, Bill Black and DC Fontana) could SWING. Their legacy is over 50 years old, but in listening to the "Complete 50s Masters: Volume I", they sound as fresh and exciting today as they did back then. This wasn't a solo artist with backing musicians : it was a BAND. The recording quality of these tracks is amazing -- it's live in the studio, and in your face.

Even after all this time, when it's gets down to the basics, it doesn't get any better than this.

Agree. They rocked. The drummer was DJ Fontana (not DC).

Yeah, early Elvis totally rocks!

His vocal on Mystery Train gives me butterflies. Still the greatest voice in rock and roll to this day. That man could sing anything.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

DJ Fontana is my favorite drummer. I usually never can come up with a solid "best of" list, but when it comes to drummers DJ is it. I take him even over Charlie.

Not too fond of the "white boy" description, but I know you meant no offense.
As far as the greatest white rock n roll band ever, The Band must enter into the discussion - particulasrly their early work as Levon and the Hawks.
