Never Wanna Lose You - Track Talk

The one song on the new album I really don’t like. It’s just sort of bland. Even the band sounds uninterested in it. I’m surprised it made the cut when Bad Luck Hideaway was … hidden away.

And the drums? Sounds like a wet cardboard box being thrashed with a broom. Horrid.

On first listen, I thought this was a standout track. I liked it very much.

I'm happy that there are so many uptempo songs on the album. It's a very pleasant surprise.

I love this one! The beat, the guitars, hook, Jagger!

Do I hear some 1970’s soul in this? Took a few listens but kind of like it.

Great tune. Hell of a groove. Daryl (I think?) is doing some great work here, would be a standout live with the breakdown in the middle

The groove is fantastic! The lyrics are such a standard clichee love song, that it’s a bit kitschy and bland for the Stones.

Or is there a twist to the lyrics I haven’t discovered yet?

First few seconds weren't promising, but then that thumping bass felt like it was going to drag me back to the 1970s. Ok that didn't happen, it's more modern than that. It turns out to be more like a part 2 of Mess It Up. I really enjoy this song.

Funny thing is that the beat is exactly how they played Mess It Up live

It‘s a fun track and I think it would tear the roof of live with a little Mick-Darryl interplay.

Frankly, on first listen that's my favorite tune off the new album. That bass sound, I was like "goddamn!" and Mick's singing is on point. The backing vocals. Love it. Love it.

Am I reading this wrong? Steve Jordan only drummed on 4 tracks. One of my favorites.

Probably my favorite dance track Mick's done since "Sweet Thing". Love the bass and organ parts and the backup vocals really help elevate it.

It's not a bad song. But it sounds more like an outtake from Goddess in the Doorway than a Stones song.

It has a great Undercover feel to it, especially love the dubby breakdown!

To me, that sounds most like the live version of "Miss You," when Mick gets everyone to sing along.

Drums, guitars, and Mick's voice all hit the mark. If my old body would allow it, I would dance to it.

It should be titled Miss You Too grinning smiley

The bass line and the vibe is almost taken from Miss You. Great track!

What a killer of a track.

@2.53 he sings "And nothing goes your way" Anyone else thought it sounded like he was doing a little David Bowie impression?

Cheers,
Wuudy

Sounds like there are congas on this track.

No one credited with percussion unless we count Bruno Mars' cowbell.

I don't think they would resort to a synthesizer for that.

Assume it's Watt or Jordan?
