Hit Me In The Head - Track Talk

Another teeth-rattlin' punker. This comes from the same place as Where The Boys Go and Neighbours - it's an absolute piss, vinegar and chilli 'in yer face' sandwich. Minimal 1977 style solo from Ronnie and a thunderous bass sound. It's also one of the last drums tracks ever recorded by Charlie.

It's amazing that 80-year-old men are putting this out after 64 years. After a few spins, that chemistry is still there. It's fireworks.

I really like Charlie's drumming on 'Hit Me In The Head' as well as on 'Mess It Up'.

Fireworks. Great description. Fantastic.

A bit of a long shot, but we know Mick loves Dylan, and this riff sounds like a punked up version of Bob’s “Honest With Me.”

Sounds a bit like Hold back and Fight mixed. Not a fan of either. Only listened to 2 times and it is way better.

Exaxtly those two songs came to my mind too. I love all 3.

I like the track a lot. It's just straight up hard rock.

Good energy, terrible mix. That chorus riff is NASTY though and completely makes the song. Enjoy this much more than its cousin on Hackney.

Yes, this is one of the only tracks that immediately struck me as filler, but it's from that long line of enjoyable filler that the Stones do so well. I think you need a couple songs like that on a Stones album.

The song grows. An old-fashioned Stones stomper. The melody sticks in my head.

I love Hit me in the Head; one of top three songs on the album. It’s short and to the point straightforward rock’n roll. Sounds a lot like the swedish Hives which were open act for the band in 2003.

I originally said this was like Fight but it’s Hold Back. I think this song kicks ass

My favorite along with Mr. Charm. A pure nasty Stones rocker.

The song keeps getting better and better. Also the crying harmonica in the background.

I can't listen to this. Feels like an undercover outtake.

Who’s playing the piano on this? It rocks. Is it Ben Waters?

Credits say it was Keith.

It's a gas, gas, gas!

Love this so much more than Mess It Up and Live By The Sword that promised Charlie on drums. Feels like the real group (sounding a lot younger than they actually are) just playing in a garage. Really love it. Shows they've still got it this far down the line. Great gem and Charlie sounds fantastic.

This one is really growing on me. Punk rock with harmonica? Sure, why not.

I have to admit that it's growing on me too. And Mick's voice and crying blues harp and Charlie's driving drums are amazing. It gives me the exciting feeling of nineteen nervous breakdown 1866. Also full of chemistry and energy.
