The ultimate 'Rough And Twisted' video has been filmed in Italy, the actor looks familiar to me...

It's a YT-Short: "Mick Jagger, 'Pausa dal lavoro' a Stromboli: per lui giri in Apecar e passeggiate" - (A break from work).

See also Mick's posts on [X.com] , [Facebook.com] , [Instagram.com] - "Working break in Italy".

It was meant as a joke from my side...

I do think the Atmos mix sounds better.

The song is perfect. Even a saxophone solo wouldn't have felt out of place. Do you agree?

I listened to this on Youtube for the first time today. I had been avoiding listening to it so I could hear it on my stereo which will have better sound.

I like the song. It has a good feel to it. It sounds like the Stones. That's how they are supposed to sound.

Sounds like a Mick song to me, but I guess we'll find out more after the album comes out.

I just love they finally brought a real boogie woogie pianist to the studio, Ben Waters! That's been a long time!

About the production, or brickwalled mixing, it is a bit harsh indeed. I listened and compared with So Young 1994 Voodoo Lounge mix (another blues stomper in a way), and So Young is far more easy on the ears and every instrument is audible but not every instrument is evenly loud in the mix. I love So Young by the way.

The Stones pre Hackney or pre A Bigger Bang had a more open and dynamic sound.

Still, it is amazing they still manage to produce this type of music, and so many riffs and fills etc. It is truly classic Stones in that way, yet adding a more Faces type of Ronnie Wood slide guitar. So they are really trying to be different again.

...

The right kind of piano by the right pianist can make such a huge difference. One of my favorite unreleased Stones songs was their 1972 uncompleted song You Shoulda Seen Her Ass, which by the end is being propelled mostly by Nicky Hopkins' loose, rude piano boogie woogie. When the band broke it back out and completed it in... 2022?... as All The Rage, that glorious Nicky Hopkins piano was absent. I could scarcely believe that that was gone. Who would make such a decision?

Back to Rough and Twisted, it's special. It's the first Stones original blues track I've heard in quite a long time that could lead you to imagine you might be sitting in a run down farm house off a dirt road in Mississippi, and the stomp is getting so wild maybe it's about time of night to leave, staying much later is when one drunk might pull a knife on another.

Surprisingly found the In The Stars 10" yesterday - the only copy in the record store - they didn't even know they had it - and listened to both. Definitely better on vinyl although Apple Music is still acceptable.

Really keen to hear this mix, do you know where I can get this by any chance?

The Dolby Atmos mixes are usually available via streaming services like Apple Music, Amazon Music or [Tidal.com] .

Still my favorite of the 4 released so far. Best groove. Most Stonesy (to me).

I gotta say - Rough and Twisted really grew on me over the last couple of weeks. In the beginning I though it was "just a blues song", but the clever lyrics combined with the strong delivery of Jagger and the modern production makes it something way more than that.

Ben Waters was in New Zealand for 2 shows in July I was talking to him in Dunedin he said I like Dunedin, I woke up this morning and got an email from The Rolling Stones management to thank me for helping them out on their new album and he showed the amount which they deposited into his bank account, he said have a look at this it's my contract, pages of it, he said, pages look at them all. Ben said he wasn't expecting to be paid for his work on "Rough and Twisted", I was just quite happy to help them out. The Rolling Stones have always been good to me, he said.
I should have got Ben to sign my "In The Stars" CD, maybe next time he tours NZ. he did sign the Dunedin promo poster for me. He talked about each member of The Stones for about 10 minutes with me, yea he's a real gentleman, a nice guy...
