As odd as that seems, I'm pretty sure that is exactly what they say. And 99.9975% of the time, they accomplish that feat!Quote

Sorry but the remix sucks...
Agreed. However why the hell is that? Surely they're not sitting around going, let's make a remix that's WAY worse than the original...

A miracle happened with the Jeff Bhasker remix of Doom And Gloom, though

I can bear the remixes as longs as they keep the idea of the song intact (example, Miss You 12" disco) ... it's the record scratching and/or vocal stop-&-go hiccupping (or whatever it's called) that I find irritating, and think they only did that to add b-sides when no other songs were available/finished at those times.

I think that the remix done on the 12" version of "Miss You" is a totally different concept to the nonsense that happens these days. It extends the song rather than overwhelms it with an imposed beat.

Miss You, Dance (the instrumental promo single), Undercover, Feel On Baby, Harlem Shuffle and Doom And Gloom all had great remixes, imo.
I liked the Jeff Bhasker remix of Doom And Gloom better than the (very) dry Grrr-version.

I don’t consider the extended version of Miss You to be a remix. It’s just a longer version of the song. For me, a remix is when someone other than the Stones takes a great Stones song and f*@#s it all up. Someone gave me a CD once of nothing but a bunch of Sympathy for the Devil remixes. I listened to it one time. It was horrible.

The song has got radio spin now. Not a frequent spin, but a spin. I kind of like it. I still has a feeling HD and FT are "Mick albums" where Keith's role is to add a licks here and there apart from coming up with the usual slow ballad.
In "Stars" the guitars sound very much generic, it sounds like the Stones doing Stones music sort of. My guess is keith only added a lick here and there. It's a good enough song though.
Mick's singing style? I must admit it's not a favorite of mine anymore these days. The lyrics are fine though. The days of provoking lyrics is history I guess. You can't call them rebels anymore.
They don't rebel against anything except, maybe, getting old...

Lyrically the song has nothing to do with the World Cup

Isn’t it "In The Stars" which World Cup team will end up as champion?
