Honestly only listened once and nearly turned it off. 1/10. It shouldn't even be filler on the new album let alone the single. No melody or hook, flat singing. Guitars and drums are fine but pretty generic. Oh well, I think there will be some great ones on the album. They haven't really had a great single since Start me up.

agree, not into it. Not 1/10 bad, but more like a 4 or 5.

I love it! Classic Stones riffing and a pretty hook. The best of both worlds.
I don't care about chart positions and all that. I just love the song.
That 'ooh ooh ooh' melody is an ear worm.

No doubt it will be slaughtered by the usual suspects on this board...

I'm also pleased that Mick is further back in the mix - not that I don't like his singing but it sounds less like a solo Mick track when his voice doesn't dominate.

Btw yes I do prefer Rough and Twisted, but its close call.

I’m hoping it’s one that grows on me and that there’s much better on the album. Appreciate the effort, and was glad the vocal delivery was different than I expected after first hearing the teaser clip this past week. Then again I have had a rough time lately and my outlooks are bad each day requiring a lot of effort to get going and feeling better. So maybe it’s partly that too. In any event I am happy to see the Stones still rolling.

Love the contrast between these two songs! The more I play both the more I love both of them! Played both of them three times each already.

I really like the A section - nothing groundbreaking or avant-garde, but a fun groove with classic Stones ingredients. I’m not quite sold on the B section… but overall, the song sounds alive and I’m glad we’re getting new music.

What a GREAt song. Really cool guitar work on it.

Amazing how they manage to hit both a somewhat contemporary sound, very solid songwriting, elements for true stones fans, and last but not least… also manage to ignite the grumpy old and jaded men who project their own misery and negativity onto the stones and this song ;-)

Impressed! 9/10

Sorry but both of them I found irritating and was waiting for them to end. Although I quite like the middle section of the first one. I found myself going back to those 4 "other" songs to compare, and preferred them.

I'm still thrilled and delighted there is new music though. And I know how these things work. What I don't like immediately, is usually because I'm not musically skilled enough to like it YET. Give it enough time and I will probably change my tune. Has happened plenty times before with The Stones.

Congratulations to them. And I can't wait to hear the album in full. There will be stuff on there that I will love straight away, there always is. Just not these two. Yet.

Obviously it’s a Song song Trademark. No JJF or SMU can be expected anymore. That said it’s a solid mid-tempo with a great intro and chorus in those times vein.

Exactly my thoughts! It won’t be on heavy rotation for me…. But I really love Rough and Twisted. Hoping more of the album is like that.

I also like Rough and twisted more, but In the stars has a catchy chorus nice riffs nice tempo and overall it could be pleasing for the people who do not know too much about the Rolling Stones. Only thing I would a little bit criticize as the verses of the song which are pretty flat and kind of uninspired/predictable.

All in all we are happy fans to have new songs from our great band and who knows if we see them live once more again.

Very glad we have a new album on the way after the awesomeness of Hackney Diamonds.

I have to say though -on first listen- the new single sounds very pedestrian... very workman-like rather than inspired. Maybe it'll grow on me.

And who the hell chose that album cover - it's hideous.

I like it very much. It’s the Stones in 2026. It’s a very modern sounding song (that’s a good thing)that’s quite breezy.

It sounds like a song to be played in the summer…It’s a combination of a good Mick solo song along with the riff from “It Must Be Hell” an odd mix, but in works…I also love “Rough and Twisted” now that I can actually hear it in a quality format.

Foreign Tongues is off to a solid start.

In the Stars reminds me of a lot of Brian Wilson’s solo work. There are bits of callbacks to the Stones’ hits, while trying to make something new and contemporary.

In the Stars is fine, but I agree with those who like Rough and Twisted better. R&T feels more genuine, and less assembled.

That was my thought as well, one listen only. Sounds like a nice number!

They are pretty much doing all commercials for Rough and Twisted. Wondering what the next single will be?

From first listening I like it. Blues, Rock, Pop, groove and a slice of melancholy. The contrast to "Rough & twisted" makes "In the stars" very delightful.

on the one hand its great to get new Stones music...

on the other hand, In the Stars sucks!

Who decided that was the one to lead with? If its the best on this album, we're in trouble (and i love virtually everything they do!).

Maybe they should have put out that AI song as their new single!

Probably someone who wants to please true Stonesfans with a Positive mindset Vs the old grumpy and jaded ones that project their own misery and negativity onto this band and its output.

Already hearing non fans loving it, and of course true fans loving what it brings to the table.

I think is great. Great guitar work, combining classic riffs with some different structural and rhythmic ideas. Vocals are great, chorus and riff are catchy. And of course it’s modern - it’s 2026. In 1966 they recorded using the best available
tech at the time (they weren’t trying to sound like 1906). And now they have a great new song that sounds both classic Stones but modern. It’s brilliant.
