Years ago, I read an interview with Keith; he must have been around 40 at the time. He was indignant when asked at what age he planned to retire. He said there’s no set age for it—why shouldn’t we be able to play rock and roll when we’re over 80? It made me laugh; I thought it was such a silly thing for Keith to say—it seemed absolutely impossible to me. I thought they’d look and sound truly ridiculous by then. Now, after 64 years, they haven’t lost any of their charm, or instrumental and vocal prowess. I still enjoy listening to HD, and these two new songs as well. With all the misery and wars around the world, the Stones are a ray of hope for me, and I can happily focus on the new album and the positive and negative reactions to it.

Where can I buy somewhere else Foreign Tongues - Spotify Fans First Exclusive Picture Disc 2LP?
"therollingstonesshop.com is not eligible for purchase based on your DE shipping location"
They don't deliver to Germany. I don't want to pay the prices on Ebay.

How a Spotify fan suppose to playback this vinyl record?

Probably just by looking at it – like looking at a picture book. winking smiley

White double vinyl
Red In the Stars vinyl 7” single
White cover Rough & Twisted limited edition 12” single x 2
Silver/Grey vinyl with Alternate cover from JPC
Yellow vinyl boxset from JPC

THAT MIGHT DO. Though I do think, for listening purposes, I’m likely to get the black vinyl, one day.

That's the only available link until now - and not to find from outside. But a PictureDisc exclusively for the United States would make litte sense. It should at least also be available in the RS UK-Store and at Bravado.de, like the Clear Vinyl Panini edition.

It is weird not to feature the new version of the tongue on the picture disc...
Maybe it is on one of the 2 sides that we don't see...

How posh.

Keith lost his instrumental aspects during the NO FILTER tours. He knows it. Maybe prior. But obviously with NO FILTER. It was evident during the HACKNEY tour in 2024.

What a creative and clever way for UMG to promote the new Stones album. Oh once it's out we're done with it.

The Stones were happy to sign with UMG yet UMG treats the Stones as 'eh, here's something' and then nothing.

They do own MCA.

Album hype two months before its release. 3 singles within that time. Not a fourth because, gee, that would make sense.

How ridiculous.

UMG completely skated off way before the 2024 tour for the new album took off.

Nothing.

2026 repeat.

UMG sucks.

Exactly, the market for legacy acts today is to release the album with a pre-sale of almost two months, release two or three singles beforehand to generate interest, release as many versions as possible so that the die-hard fans buy them all, and that's it. No radio station is going to play new music from an old artist. Only current artists can promote an album after months. The era of releasing singles for months afterward for legacy acts ended a long time ago. No company is going to invest money in that; the entire budget goes to the pre-sale and the release week, and after that, it's over.

This used to be true during the CD-age. During the streaming-age things have changed. Releasing a single means that a track receives a new moment. Maybe a video and a playlist push. If you declare somethig as a new single, it makes coordinating marketing stuff easier. I guess a single nowadays is no longer a preview of an album, rather a song that gets a special focus.

Maybe a kind of reminder that brings the artist / the new album back to the top of the streaming list.

although it makes no sense they did it before:
Voodoo Lounge was released on July 11, 1994.
single releases from the album
July 1st – Love is Strong
Sept 26 – You Got Me Rocking
Oct 17 – Out Of Tears
May 21 (1995!) – I Go Wild (released shortly before the European tour kicked off)

That I Go Wild single was released in 1995 to promote the VL tour in Europe. Which is why I Go Wild live from the opening night in Stockholm was broadcasted live on TV all over Europe. They did the same in 1982 with the release of Going to a Go-Go from Hampton to promote the European Tour.

Foreign Tongues - Album Talks

Artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn, admired by the Rolling Stones and Leonardo DiCaprio, returns with hometown show

Fresh off designing the Stones’ next album cover, the former Robert Taylor Homes resident opens his first solo exhibition in Chicago this week at the National Public Housing Museum.

Quinn’s style has earned him famous fans, including Mick Jagger, who visited his solo exhibition twice at Gagosian’s New York event last year. Later, famed music executive Jimmy Iovine sent a text to Quinn’s wife and studio manager, Donna Augustin-Quinn, requesting that the artist illustrate the Rolling Stones’ album cover.

Before long, Quinn was calling and texting Jagger, and the two had lunch at the Baccarat Hotel in New York.

“He’s telling me about his children and his family and his travels,” Quinn said.

“I went to the music studio with Keith Richards one night. He was jamming, playing his guitar, and at each break, he sits down and talks to me. He’s telling me all of his stories. He’s super cool.”

Quinn’s work, which blends the faces of Jagger, Richards and Ronnie Wood, was enthusiastically received by fans and even some celebrities, whom Quinn met at an album release event in Brooklyn. At one point during the night, he felt a tap on the shoulder.

“I turn around and it’s Leonardo DiCaprio,” Quinn said. “Leo is also a collector of my work. And the first thing he says is, ‘Hey, man, I just want you to know it was my idea for you to do the Rolling Stones album cover. I don’t care what anyone says. It was me. I told Mick about your work.’”

I think that's a romantic ideal for latter day musicians. In the old days, the old blues singers, artists had to perform at old age to support themselves. Keith hasn't - that's the difference. I don't think new Stones records do anything to combat misery or wars around the world. Not at all. But they make fans happy and that is, I guess, more than enough.

that's why I used VL as an example. Given the price for a CD back then it didn't make much sense for most people to buy those singles (expect for collectors and/or people interested in non-album tracks, live tracks or remixes)

The same nowadays: it doesn't make much sense for me (and maybe others) to buy those singles when they're included in the album and can be streamed for free.
