Exactly as intended ... how many of the 99.999% actually cared when Living in a Ghost Town came out. At least this caused a much bigger stir amongst the hardcores than that did. Even after it's all over, people still can't stop talking about it!

Again, it was brilliant, got the job done - and again, as a bonus, we got a great tune!

As a Scot myself, I admire your enthusiasm for my fellow countryfolk. Most of us don't mind being part of the UK. It is being called English that is the pressure point.

Anyway, moving on. Aberdeen was also one of the UK (Scotland) locations.

I could care less about the cockroaches vinyl that is unobtainable. Everyday they don’t release a proper single/music video is a huge disappointment. Been looking forward to the new record for a year and I just feel bored and disappointed at this point. If this is supposed to be the beginning of the marketing campaign for the new album, they should really fire their marketing team because this shit is boring. Especially compared to the very exciting Hackney Diamonds launch.

"People can't stop talking about it" You mean, 15-20 people on IORR can't stop talk about it? That's not brilliant. Actually it's quite easy to get people arguing about nothing on this site. As the poster above said, the whole thing is boring now. 10th of July feels too far away, and I won't be as excited when they pull off their next marketing move. I have already been fooled once. The boy who cried wolf and all that. PS: You say the new single was a bonus. A bonus in addition to what exactly? The T-shirt? I guess we just have to disagree, I think this PR stunt was rather underwhelming.

Launch time is till to come - presumably mid May.

Don’t think IORR are the target for the marketing campaign. It’s the clicks on links to establish publications (NME / Rolling stone / newspapers) that pick up the story and run with it. Tiny outlay for posters and cheap web design - mass attention. Mission accomplished.

I agree that there should be access to rough and twisted for the hardcore fans, but no doubt that will come in time

"Mass attention". I think not. Stuff in the music press, and a couple of articles in the mainstream media.

I'm gradually coming to the view that the release like the way they have done it, was a failure. Some PR toady somewhere looked at the HD release - which WAS a PR success - and came up with a cheap and nasty half baked replica.

If the idea was to tell the world at large that The Greatest Rock And Roll Band that has ever been was about to release a new album, 64 years after they were originally formed, then mission failure is the outcome.

But those fans do this to themselves.
Tuesday there was a starting bid of 0,84 dollar (or euro I am not sure) for one of these vinyls when it expires on Saterday and two hours later it was already 200 euro and at the end of the day it was 600, a day later around 800 and now more than 1000.
Why people are bidding like crazy when it expires on Saterday, I think that is very, very foolish, so they are outbidding each other when this is not necessary at all. Just wait untill the last ten or twenty seconds on Saterday and make than your bid, that is how I always do it.

Maybe there's hundreds of copies at Walmart and nobody's thinking to look there.
