He also returns to the subject towards the end of the (very very very interesting) podcast to strongly refute accounts that have Paul McCartney in attendance at the very private family show.

He (Bill German) WAS there, and knew Ronnie & Keith well at the time, so his account has to be taken very seriously. But the McCartney rumour is documented in a book by Keith Badman who is a researcher with a good reputation (ie definitely not an idiot who publishes rubbish).

Personally I'm still inclined to believe Bill German, but I definitely can't completely dismiss Badman's account.

the 1099 podcast with Bill is excellent, though very long (takes a few sittings). Best watched on YouTube so you can see the things he holds up form time to time.

I remember reading an article about this in Rolling Stone magazine right after the performance.

Maybe someone else remembers this.

I don't remember it saying that Paul taped the concert but if he did, I doubt he would admit it and I think by now, 40 years later, he would have spoken about it publicly.

Oh wow. I never knew that, and was just listening to a song by her when I read this. "This Mess We're In" with Thom Yorke from Radiohead.
