He undoubtedly produced one of your favorite records. Can't imagine the British Blues Boom of the 60's happening without him. Raise a glass- thank you Mike Vernon.

From Wikipedia-
Michael William Hugh Vernon (20 November 1944 – 2 March 2026)[1][2] was an English music executive, studio owner and record producer from Harrow, Middlesex.[3] He produced albums for British blues artists and groups in the 1960s, working with the Bluesbreakers, David Bowie, Duster Bennett, Savoy Brown, Chicken Shack, Climax Blues Band, Eric Clapton, Focus, Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, John Mayall, Christine McVie and Ten Years After, amongst others.[4]

I once saw Mr. Vernon and talked to him. That was July 22, 2018, the final day of the annual Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival — roughly a month and a half after the Stones’ Murrayfield show.
A renowned blues enthusiast as he was, Vernon put together his band, called Mike Vernon & the Magic Combo, and enjoyed playing blues himself. That was a Sunday matinee in the Spiegeltent, and they played as the first act starting at 1pm. Sporting a silver long hair, Vernon looked young, and sung blues numbers he loved.
John Primer (who is pictured with Mick at Basil’s Bar in Mustique in the photo posted in the ‘Mick Jagger sightings 2026’ thread) played Act 2. The event finished a little after 4.

There was a signing session afterwards. I asked Mr. Vernon a few questions, feeling a sense of awe.
“Does Eric play any other guitars than the Les Paul on the ‘Beano’ album?”
“No, Les Paul 100%,” he said.
I then went on to ask about a mythical theory argued in some Clapton fan-quarters.
“Did Eric use the Dallas Rangemaster [an effects unit made in the ‘60s] for the recording of the ‘Beano’ album?”
With a bewildered look, he answered, “I don’t remember.”

That was my encounter with Mr. Mike Vernon.

R.I.P. British ‘Blues Boom’ supremo!
