Another fantastic concert by Dick Taylor and his current backing band "Tallyman"!

Last Friday in Oberhausen (Germany) at "Gdanska" - a very small club with a great atmosphere.

Enjoy watching!

Boy can he still play that bottle neck guitar at 83!

Who would have thought that Dick would still play live when the Stones were done with playing shows (supposedly…)

Good to see he's out there, still active.

StonedRambler: I don't think they are comparable.

I saw Dick Taylor in person only once, and that was with The Pretty Things, Osaka 2010, on the first of their only two Japan tours (the second was 2016, which I gave a miss for they played only in Tokyo). Midway through the set, Dick changed to acoustic guitar and played I Can’t Be Satisfied and Come On In My Kitchen, using a bottleneck. I was mesmerized how brilliantly he delivered the deep, earthy feel of the Delta blues with his fingers so much so that I thought to myself, this might be better than Clapton’s rather ‘clean’ acoustic blues performances in that Dick’s conveyed some dirt in his playing. Long live Blues Boy AKA the original Rollin’ Stone!

The Dick Taylor & Tallyman Concert in the Stones-Fan-Museum in Lüchow Wendland in Germany in 2025 was Great

I caught the Pretty Things, circa 2008-09, at the 100 Club. Although I knew bits-and-pieces of their released music, I didn't quite know what to expect. Turns out that it was a set-lit made-up of their mid-60's repertoire, with some truly standout blues and R&B covers. I'm unsure whether it would have worked in a venue any larger, but for somewhere as intimate as the 100 Club, it was utterly perfect. Their musicianship was commendable to say the least.

Osaka Muse, the venue where I saw them, was also small, cap 350 (and it wasn’t sold out). And yes, their performance was very ‘musical’, even rootsy and bluesy depending on the songs they played. Hearing about their legendary rock ‘n’ roll debauchery in the 1960s and proto-punk image, I was pleasantly surprised.

FYI their setlist of Tokyo second night prior to the Osaka show (Feb 1) that was the same or very similar AFAIR:

Wish they had picked some Swan Song-era tracks, though.

Yes, it was a fantastic concert in Lüchow.
I was there and filmed the videos. (I even have a bit more from there)

Saw The Pretty Things live twice and now Dick Taylor with Tallyman twice – I'll probably go to Lüchow again on June 6th.
Dick is currently playing such wonderful guitar (in collaboration with Tallyman) that I couldn't forgive myself for missing it (Lüchow is only an hour's drive from me).

The setlist in Oberhausen was a little different than in Lüchow. It was especially nice to hear him on lead vocals for once, on the old Pretty Things song "Baron Saturday" (the video for that is coming soon),
But of course, the atmosphere was at its best during the Stones-related songs. (The video for "Route 66" will also be available later)

Setlist:
01 - Roadrunner
02 - Buzz The Jerk
03 - Judgement Day
04 - She's Fine, She's Mine
05 - Get The Picture
06 - Cry To Me
07 - Don't Bring Me Down
08 - Little Red Rooster - acoustik set
09 - I Just Can't Be Satisfied - acoustik set
10 - Alexander
11 - Rain In My Heart
12 - Come See Me
13 - Can't Stand The Pain
14 - Midnight To Six Man
15 - Baron Saturday - Dick Taylor vocals
16 - Honey I Need
17 - Rosalyn
Encore :
18 - LSD
19 - Big Boss Man
20 - Route 66

He may resemble your elderly grandfather, but Dick Taylor definitely still possesses the chops! Great soloing on Route 66, there!

Thank you all for recording and posting videos here. Dick Taylor has always been great and his playing is still busy, precise and fun. I know it is not fair to compare his playing with that of Keef's but I cannot help it. That special spark...

If you have not, pick up The Final Bow from The Pretties. A must see!

I am not that interested in the Stones as a live act anymore (and I will not pay hundreds of dollars for a concert ticket for any artists). I do believe they should spend the rest of their years with family. But I hope that they will do one last farewell show to properly close a great chapter in music history. Just like The Pretty Things did...

And nothing beats The Pretty Things' first two albums (apart from The Beatles, of course). Two albums I never get tired of listening to.
