It’s a beautiful place and I can picture Charlie there. I thought it would cost a lot more than £2.75m though!

Well, it's some considerable distance from the exceedingly overpriced, overrated capital.

Well, Charlie really did a class trip. From a a prefab in Pilgrims Way to this mansion (country estate) in Devon. The upper class lifestyle always suited him though. It is like he was born to it.

It’s interesting that Keith has lived in Connecticut for many years and Charlie’s daughter for many years lived in a beautiful town in Rhode Island. Both in New England.

Kinda sad seeing this.
You can definitely see that they were a very horsey couple.

Wow. What a great place. I could live there depending on my lottery ticket coming through. Not into the horses motif but have a friend in AZ who might be interested. She loves horses and has similar horse decorations on her property and in her house here in The Valley and up in Heber. They have an Arabian horse show every year here in Scottsdale. I wonder if Charlie and Shirley ever attended.

That library… where Charlie has his last performance with the Stones, doing YCAGWYW, Together At Home, during COVID. We should take a collection and buy the place.

200 miles from London...he was definitely off the grid. Where is the closest airport

Well, there's certainly very populous areas 200 miles adrift from London; although North Devon is comparatively quiet. It's a long time since I've been there, but it's a lovely part of Devon, and very, very, different to London.

Exeter - about 30 miles south east.

It's incredible.

An astounding place.

Whoever is lucky enough that is true.

Only a fool would buy it and tear it down.

I am actually surprised by the value of the place, 3MM pounds. It was the same when Brian's house was for sale. It really isn't that much for the seize of the house and the land. The property would be triple the amount anywhere in the Netherlands.

It not being in London is a big factor.

Are they selling it with all the furniture? What about all those books?

What a beautiful house. If I had 3m I’d buy it regardless of the Charlie link

Aside from a book in one photo, whose spine reads, "The Civil War Years," I-spy with my Stones Fan's Eye the following evidence that this is indeed the unadulterated former home of the drumming legend himself:

I see on one pictures book - Prague Fin De Siecle. I can imagine him with this book. 15 years ago he seemed happy to play in Divadlo Hybernia in Prague.

Typical English style. You wouldn't find anything like that here in Sweden. Not my cup of tea though. His wife must have had a full time job managing the estate. But I guess they had an employed staff for cleaning, gardening and other tasks.

I wonder if all his Civil War memorabilia was auctioned off. Don’t remeber seeing it listed. Would be a catch for a US museum.

Charlie and Shirley's... estate? Home? gives an element to how not important they see themselves as part of The Rolling Stones.

Not that anywhere they've lived in the last 40 years screams 'This is the home of a Rolling Stone'.

Keith has 800 guitars or whatever. Yet he's 'eh' about it except for a handful. Has a house in Connecticut and the Turks. That just is.

Mick, in BEING MICK, is seen looking at the multi-track masters of 1977-1979 masters and is 'whatever' about it. Homes in several places - it just is.

The status of history doesn't touch them - they're in it. It's not important. Charlie sitting in whatever old car he mentioned even though he can't drive, simply saying he liked to sit in it.

There are plenty of people that have similar aspects that aren't "rich" like members of The Rolling Stones are. My guitar collection isn't anything near even 10 percent of Keith's yet I don't know exactly what I have or where some of them are.

This particular aspect of extremely successful artists, in any regard, is fading fast. It's history breathing out its last breath.
