It makes zero sense to me. Keith played a similar one before 1974. People can say anything.

To me the guitar and its story are completely unknown.

The provenance is not very good as well...a letter of the original owner that he 'bought it from Ian Stewart years ago' is not saying much.

Totally agreed with you guys! Was just wondering if somebody would recognize this guitar from old picture or so. Thanks for your feedback.

It's similar but extremely unlikely it is the same Les Paul Keith had since someone else supposedly owns it now.

Keith’s ’57 Les Paul Custom somehow ended up in the hands of a private collector who now owns the guitar, but the story about how it slipped from Keith’s hands is not exactly clear.

Some people say that the guitar was stolen in 1971 from Villa Nellcôte nearby Nice when burglars walked out with nine of Richards’s guitars. Another version of the story is that Keith simply left the guitar in a repair shop in Canada, but forgot to pick it up for a couple of years. In the third version, he gave the guitar to a friend. To our knowledge, none of these are confirmed by Keith, so that makes it one more Keith Richards guitar with a shady history behind it.

As I understand it -Keith left it in Canada at a luthier to fix some things, and forgot about it for years to come. It was then put on the (grey...) market but it returned to the collection of Richards, where it remains.

Another version of the story is that it was left at an airport where it remained in the Lost & Found for years until it was picked up. But this is the same story as runs for Mick's Gibson Hummingbird.
