1. Memo From Turner

A Big Four era classic - alongside things like "Gimme Shelter", "Sympathy For The Devil" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want" it belongs as much to Stones saga as Mick's. I'd like to leave it out, like ProfessorWolf, since including it does not sound fair, but I can't. This one is a certain number one here; for the next four there are probably 15-20 tunes I could pick any.

2. Evening Gown

If it is not Johnny Cash or Hank Williams or some old master like that I don't usually like country music (to me it sounds too much like Good Ole Boys), but when Mick (or Dylan) does it I just can't resist. One of Jagger's best vocal performances ever. Always a joy to listen, which I do pretty often.

3. Peace for The Wicked

This is Mick Jagger going solo at its best: it reaches places the Stones can't (Unfortunately Mick does that way too rarely in his solo things). This time it is a funky dance piece that actually sounds like it supposed to sound like. One cannot ask that from Charlie or Keith.

4. Easy Sleazy

Raw but catchy, pretty recent gem. No hostages. The problem with many Mick's solo rock numbers is that they sound like polished versions of the Stones - and mind easily goes: 'oh, the Stones could this much better'. But this one does not have that problem; the other dude rocks like the Stones never existed, and that goes well with Mick's SOME GIRLS era punk style and attitude (and works I think better than the similar HACKNEY DIAMONDS tune)

5. Kow Tow

I am a big fan of PRIMITIVE COOL, and there are many hidden gems there. SATANIC MAJESTIES of the 80's. I could take "Throwaway", "Say You Will" or "Party Doll", but I pick this one. Some wonderful and unique melody lines and choices there. Still don't know what "kow tow" means, but who cares, a great tune.

Hmm.. I needed to leave many personal favourites out (for example, nothing from SHE'S THE BOSS), but it is what it is. I didn't invent the rules.

Great performances, yes! I haven't seen them for years; have those SNL performances on VHS but as of yet anyway, not on YouTube.

Great that you're counting this time, ProfessorWolf!
I was beginning to think I'd have to start all over again.winking smiley

But why aren't you counting the amazing "Checkin' Up On My Baby"? It's officially on Mick Jagger's "Best Of" album, so I thought it was an official Mick Jagger track.

Sweet Thing
Evening Gown
Too Far Gone (no one seems to rate this one highly)
Memo From Turner
Put Me in the Trash

The Wandering Spirit album is just phenomenal with so many great tracks; Out of Focus comes just outside of top five.

Different musicians indeed. I find this version very refreshing and energetic.
Professionals. You pay, we play. Almost no mistakes.Razor sharp. I like that attitude. Apart from the money and addiction to fame I never really understood why Jagger rejoined the Stones after he went solo in the eighties. But I'm a Taylor era Stones fan as you know. There some mistakes were allowed.smiling smiley
