Keith is soon to turn 82. Isn’t it time, surely?

Ringo is still touring at almost 86 years old - [www.RingoStarr.com] .

And yet average lifespan for a male is still around 76

Almost! A quick search lead me to discover that a Briton, like Keith, has a life expectancy of 79.1 if born in 1943.

what if said briton is a multi-millionaire who can afford the best medical care in the world and has very good genetics (his parents lived into there mid 80's and early 90's and his grand parent also exceeded the average lifespans of there times)

I think there's a lot of ppl here who need to revisit this thread when they turn 82, and perhaps have a change of tone.

My 2 cents: there is a disagreement on the new album 'production' and the only way Keith has to steer it his way is to block any tour.

how about we just discuss what's next

let's spend the night together is gonna be re-released as a remastered 4k blu-ray on jan 20th

after that i assume we won't have anymore archive releases until after the album is released and whatever period of promotion set aside for it is over

now getting to the album

according to georgelick the album is being pressed so it's done

they originally planned for it to be released in spring but with the tour being called off that may have changed

i can't see it being delayed to long so let's say it's released between april and october next year

i assume we'll be treated to a similar wave of promotion to that of hackney diamonds possibly capped off with a short promo show in new york

(and save me the spiel about facing reality or being delusional a week or two rehearsal for a forty minute gig within driving distance of keith's house is not the same thing as two months rehearsal followed by four months of touring and 14-20 two hour stadium rock concerts)

after that they could get back in the studio and start recording another album

and maybe (maybe) mick changes his mind about residencies or they work out a short run of shows in new york near keith's home (once again not the same thing as a four month tour)

then on the archive side of things they have a lot of thing they can release

maybe with the end of touring and the need for something more lucrative to release from the vaults they'll finally decide to work with abcko so we can finally get the real super deluxes of beggar's banquet and let it bleed that we should have had years ago

plus a real emptying of the vaults from the early years of live shows and studio outtakes

perhaps a boxset of msg shows from 69 with a blu-ray of a complete performance (hope they got the petition) and maybe altamont

failing that i guess emotional rescue would have to be the next album up for the super deluxe treatment but that raises the question of what live wise could be included with it in the super deluxe maybe the concerts for the blind (were they professionally recorded?)

of course probably more wiltern style releases coming as well (echoplex 2013 please)

other things that have been rumored

a new greatest hits compilation has been rumored recently from reliable sources

what kind of bait could we get in that for those of us who have the last five greatest hits compilations new studio tracks or live stuff?

there have been rumors for years of mick working on a compilation of studio outtakes from the 80's and 90's and now possibly the 70's as well (lots of very good outtakes from the 70's leftover to work with maybe intentionally)

other related ideas

perhaps one more solo album from keith and ronnie (i can't see mick bothering as long as the stones are still recording new music) and maybe a few short shows (not a tour) from the winos

that faces album we've all heard about for years finally getting released followed by a reunion of what's left of the faces for a tour

as much as i depise the idea mick has talked enthusiastically about holographic stones shows

wasn't there supposed to be a biopic series about the band in devolpment by fx? (not keen on that either)

maybe mick and keith act some more in movies

would love if mick could sit down and finally write his autobiography or at least allow the one he wrote in the 80's to be released

also be nice if keith could update life with a couple more chapters cover the last nearly two decades since he finished writing it

anything else?

Well, that's quite a lot to unpack, Sir!

The Stones doing a mini-performance as part of the album launch I can envisage, but it isn't something they've regularly done previously. As for a follow-up to the as-of-yet released album? I feel the next one will be the last, personally. That's just me, and certainly don't begrudge those who think further releases are possible.

well judging by the way people have been talking in this thread the only thing the stones have going for them is touring when actually there's potentially a lot to look forward to in the near future

so i had a lot to saywinking smiley

and those kind of shows may not have been the norm before but things have changed with the end of touring

the racket show was pretty successful for them with little equivalent effort compared to a tour for promoting hackney

they got several promo vidoes out of it tons of clips for social media and live material for a deluxe resissue of the album

i understand your gut feeling about it being the last album but i have have my own that it may not

if the rumor of this album being made up of newly recorded songs and not hd leftovers turns out to be true

that means after nearly two decades without an album suddenly they're capable of recording over two albums of new material within 3 years without having to lean heavily on outtakes from previous sessions

that says to me that there still more then capable of being creative and likely want to create more

especially if this album is well received then yes i could see one more album before 2030

there is nothing left to steer the album is done and is being pressed

if keith didn't like it it wouldn't be released same with hackney

he'd say no just like he did with mick's england lost and gotta get a grip and like he just did with touring

he's a rolling stone not a hired hand if he says no it matters

Just a remark: while there were on 17-Dec-2025 ten Pink Floyd releases in the Top-200 sales chart on jpc.de, there were at the same time no releases at all by the Rolling Stones in this sales chart - [www.jpc.de] .

The 10 Pink Floyd releases & chart positions: #1 WYWH50 2CD, #2 WYWH50 3LP, #3 WYWH50 BluRay, #4 WYWH50 Yellow Vinyl, #18 WYWH50 Deluxe Box, #31 TDSOTM50 LP, #67 The Wall 2LP, #71 Pompeii MCMLXXII 2LP, #77 TDSOTM50 CD, #138 Pompeii MCMLXXII BluRay.

For comparison, snippets of the sales statistic of RS Black and Blue 2025 on jpc.de - [iorr.org] .

Good point and well said!

For all anyone knows, Keith might have felt hesitant about a tour for whatever reason but went along with the plan anyway and then decided when it finally came to the crunch that nothing had changed and so it was better to come clean than end up affecting the tour in any way after it had started. He's perfectly within his rights to change his mind and owes nothing to any of us. And even if he did, he repaid us already many times over.

As to Ronnie, many of us on here had close encounters with him in the not too distant past and I for one can vouch that he was in his usual good spirits and very much alive and kicking. He appeared equally well in his recent fireside chat at Koko. Presumably he was at the recording of Jools Holland Hootenanny on 10 December, which will air on NYE, so anyone able to watch it can perhaps judge for themselves then,

i don't think that's how it works

if it's being pressed he's said yes already a bunch of times

weird time to start say no

The logical thing for Mick to do now if he really was ready to tour and play some of the new album next Spring is to play some dates with Andrew Watt. I think he's kind of been Keith's replacement all along.

I'm going to stick my neck out, that's my prediction.

Forget it. No Keith no Rolling Stones. And also: Keith is an emotional person and always said: No Charlie no Rolling Stones.Maybe after several gigs with drummer Jordan, Keith made his real feelings come through for good. Who knows, just my imagination.

‘After several gigs.’ Jordan has completed three full tours with them…

No need to say sorry, i over reacted, i suppose they all have good and bad days, I'm 18 years younger than Ronnie and don't feel so great at times.

I think we forget how old they are, it's crazy even talk about tours if we step back a bit and realise most men have already passed on by 82.

I dunno, on the other hand was kind of fun to read that:

-AC/DC using all the trucks in the US while the Stones were planning to tour Europe
- chance of rain and cold evenings

were among the reasons KR pulled out

I don't buy it. They know their "tour regime". They've been doing this for 63 years. If this was the issue they would've not started booking tour at all.

"Booking" is basically an agent placing holds on stadiums. Can probably be done in a few hours.
