It's funny how keefriffhards always manages to blame everything on Mick.

Oh come on man. One show every 4 days, of course he's fed up with it.

I'm not blaming anyone, but can you blame Keith for not wanting to take 3 or 4 months to do 16 shows.

We don't know that it's only Mick working under limitations.

Keith is soon to turn 82. Isn’t it time, surely?

Ringo is still touring at almost 86 years old - [www.RingoStarr.com] .

And yet average lifespan for a male is still around 76

The Stones are not average .... (neither is Ringo, apparently).

The article is BS. Keith's finger arthritis hasn’t been active for over 10 years, he played in New York last month, he was in good shape.

Next we are going to get the AI generated crap telling us what happened, people can't tell truth from fiction any longer.

I'm sure if we wait the Stones themselves will comment, until then it's BS and I'm out of here.

BV already told us it wasn't a serious matter, he said "THEY" not Keith were not ready to commit to 3+ months of rehearsals and touring next summer.

Now that doesn't even say they might not come up with a different plan of action to play shows.

Keith was sitting down at times during shows in the last US tour. He just may, as Antoine noted, have come to terms with his age. He may not be able to stand and play at a level he's pleased with through an entire tour's worth of concerts.

Mick doesn't want to do sit-down shows, and Keith doesn't want to be away from home that long and put through what is now a more physically grueling show routine. It doesn't have to be more complicated than that.

from memory keith sat down for the intro to gimme shelter and stood for the rest of the show

including thru a three song solo set while mick rested

but to your point that was a year and a half ago things may have changed

The gap between shows is precisely what the issue is for Mr. Richards

Good on Keith to take health as first priority.

That said his last concert was about 6 weeks ago. Im not too sure that he is completely retired from performing.

It's sad, but if Keith, the soul of the Stones, wants to hang it up, god bless him.
If they want to do a run of shows at MSG and The Forum in LA, I'd be up for that too!

If Keith's arthritis is the major issue for the tour not happening it's understandable.

Maybe he is actually tired of the road.

Why not? Doesn't matter that they do 14 shows in 3 months - at some point, enough is enough.

Financial aspects of being insured may be detrimental - they have to pay for that.

Maybe he's feeling 82 years old with his history... maybe he actually heard how flat Mick sang in 2024.

Maybe Keith, of all people, has said it's over.

So what.

Do we really believe they will continue as if it's 1989 etc and deny their age? Seems as if some people think they can because, like, you know, like, time waits for no one but they have time on their side.

Of course it's about age. Physical health.

That's logical.

A new album... great. No tour... they've done it before: TSMR. BB. SF. IORR. ER. U. DW. BAL.

That's eight albums they did not tour for.

So what if the new album comes out, video singles for every song, and no tour - and that's it.

For one thing, as they've been clear about, no cashing in on a "final" tour. So they've put that one away.

They're old. Old enough.

They have nothing to prove. Oh, right: old men can still tour.

At some point they can't. And in that regard, don't want to.

Mick can do whatever he wants but no one will give a damn. Oh but he's so prolific. Wonderful - but results show no one cares.

If they're done they're done.

Why anyone would be disappointed is a mystery.

I give whichever one of them credit that they don't want to die on stage. Over 80, I'll be happy to see them anytime around but I also realize at a certain point enough is enough. I know the tours aren't long, but they do deserve to just enjoy life if that's what one or both of them want to do. Its been 60 years, when I'm sure most would have guessed it would have only gone for 30, at most.

All this speculation, and no official word.

Kind of strange Variety generically attributed it to Keith “not wanting to commit”, followed by the “Live dates in recent years” anonymous comment that references his arthritis. Sounds like a guess.

My gut says we still haven’t heard the real reason.

Maybe he’s putting his foot down on a point or two regarding the direction of the band?

If he is hurting, it seems strange there would have been apparently serious tour discussions that just stopped for ONLY that reason, as one would think that would have been a known issue while they were recording?

Is it possible he’s not happy with the album, or something about the tour, and he just said “enough is enough”, letting the cards fall where they may?

My only hope is every band member is healthy, and they have many years left to enjoy life, whether as active musicians, or not.

All I can say is thank you for a lifetime of memories and wonderful moments, and a catalog of incredible music that has filled my life with joy.

The romanticism Keith had for Muddy way back has probably devolved. Keith is about family. A lot of people are but a lot of people are not Keith Richards. At the time he was raging about dying onstage has very likely turned over at the age of 81 almost 82 - whatever.

Life has a way of revealing yourself... and with a family like he has, why would he want to die onstage? He's not some down trodden taken advantage of old black blues performer - he's a multi-millionaire that has possibly aged out of being insured for what he wants to do, which means he can't play stadia of any capacity anymore because they don't want someone croaking onstage in their building.

Although think of the marketing.

Exactly, an incredible number of strange comments here from people who don't want to respect their desire not to do any more tours, regardless of the reason. Incredibly disrespectful.

It’s no secret a lot of work went into organising tours for the last 2 years that have fell through. Given their age this may be it for them as a touring band.

So why did he agree to record the album and start booking process? If he came o terms with his age in 2024, why did they spend entire 2025 recording the new album and then start booking the tour? They spent so much effort, energy and money in the new album just to pull the plug just before tour announcement because Keith felt he's too old already in 2024? That does not make sense. If this was the case he should have called it quit one year ago or retire after the next tour.
