The Stone Roses bassist Gary 'Mani' Mounfield dies aged 63.

One of the best Bass introductons I have ever heard his opening to the Glasgow concert.

The Stone Roses were a band more about attitude than musicianship. That being said, Mani’s spacey and funky bass play was one to make my ears prick up. Fools Gold!

Makes me feel even sadder to know his wife passed away for cancer just two years before, and that he is survived by twelve-year old twin sons. How cruel life can be.

RIP Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield

Horrible news! A great bass player and a lovely man.

I'm devastated to hear this.

RIP, Mani. This is very sad to hear. He recorded successful records with the Stone Roses and Primal Scream. Apart from that I always admired his mancunian elegance and sense of humour. Recently I saw him on TV next to Liam Gallagher attending the funeral service for Ricky Hatton in Manchester. Gary Mani Mounfield will be remembered.

RIP indeed - a really great bassist who brought so much to every musical situation he was in. Very sad news and my heart goes out to his young kids who are now without both parents.
