Compilation of outtakes from the band’s middle era "likely ? What's left ?

Probably best not to read too much into this but this article [www.memphisflyer.com] about Robert Johnson's involvement in the B&B sessions has a somewhat intriguing sentence : "Johnson stayed into the night as the band worked on the prospective album track “Built That Way.” It was not destined to be included on Black and Blue, nor is it on the new box set, but will likely be in a future compilation of outtakes from the band’s middle era"

Does that journalist know something we don't, he must have heard something, maybe from Johnson ?

Anyway it got me wondering what "finished" songs were "left" from the known leaks from the 70s and not used in the Deluxe editions, let's see, going by memory :

- Tell Her How It Is (aka Potted Shrimp)
- English Rose
- Man Eating Woman
- Built That Way
- Let's Do It RIght (aka "Come On Sugar")
- I Got a Letter
- Misty Roads (aka "The Way She Held me Tight")
- Everlasting is My Love
- I Need You
- It's a Lie (on TY Deluxe)
- Never Make You Cry
- Still In Love
- Gangster's Moll
- Lonely At The Top
- Jah Is Not Dead
- Disco Music (not much of a song though)
- Not The Way To Go

I must have forgotten some of them and if you add Undercover and DW, many more songs would be available !

Maybe he just heard FFO and thought it would get a release some day?

It's A Lie was on TY Deluxe.

if you added dirty work and undercover outtakes you'd have more like two more discs worth of material

they've done nothing with the outtakes from that era and frankly in my opinion there's a lot of promising material that's already circulating plus whatever hasn't already leaked (there never seems to be an end to the undercover outtakes)

and a year or so ago it was rumored that mick was working on a compilation of 80's - 90's material

Yes there are also a couple of known tracks from SW, "Giving It Up", "Ready Yourself"...

They could do "decades", 70s/80s/90s

Depends how you calculate it, if you look at the timespan, yes (a moving target though) but if you look at the output, it would probably fall on the 70s/80s.

WWMW would require more work though, like most of those in the post above (other than "NTWTG", I've added it to the OP), I sort of stuck to the "finished" songs.

well i would include keith's toronto sessions from 1977

some may consider them solo tracks but i think there's a good argument to be made for there inclusion on this rumored compilation

worried life blues
sing me back home
she still comes around
apartment no. 9
say it's not so

also a lot of the covers from the sessions at rca studios in 1978

i know there a bit rough but i think many are releasable with a better mix (like tallahassee lassie was)

blues with a feeling
i ain't superstitious
what am i living for
my last plea
your angel steps out of heaven
back in the usa

and linda lu from the 79 sessions

and i would assume that mick will work on and finish some of the many quality instrumental outtakes from this era adding finished lyrics and new vocals as he's been doing for the last fifteen years

so the scope of what could be on this compilation could be massive and really only limited by mick's level of interest and the amount of time he's willing to expend on this project

i personally can't imagine munich hilton not getting released at some point

Tell Her How It Is would need some more work.

Everlasting Is My Love is a fave of mine - would love to get a cleaned up funky version of that. Was really expecting that to be on SG, so was disappointed when it wasn't.

Yeah cool track and there are at least 2 very different versions (one with a falsetto), not including the largely instrumental track that was given that name on the "Claudine" bootleg LP but that was later renamed to "A Different Kind" for some reason.
