Rolling Stones 60's Items Auction - Ali Zayeri collection

Some amazing stuff - but most amazing for me is that Charles Epting is interviewed in the piece, for Heritage auctions. That's my son - raised to love the Stones--and now he's handling these items.

IORR Editor comment (from Reuters report):

Some 185 items, including posters, stage-worn outfits and tickets, will go under the hammer at Dallas-based Heritage Auctions' "Satisfaction: The Rolling Stones Treasures from the Ali Zayeri Collection" on December 4, with late Rolling Stones' co-founder Jones' Harmony Stratotone electric guitar leading the sale with an estimate of $200,000 - $400,000.

That's great, hb!

He's taken what you've handed down and run with it.

Nice when you can see your influence on your own, and especially when it's actually paying off for him!

I've said about my own kids that it's "their world now."

When I saw that Andrew Watt is a year younger than my youngest son, I could only imagine what I would feel like if my boy had produced Hackney Diamonds...

Cool. I have a picture of me holding Brian's Harmony Guitar. Was taken with a Dentist that acquired it back in the 60s. That's as close as I'll get to any of this stuff. Good luck to all the bidders.

Thanks for sharing. Some unf%$^in' believable stuff on sale. Those acetates! And so many autographs. Cool Ronnie Wood paintings. And I would love to have that Black & Blue or It's Only Rock... store display. There is not a thing that I ould not like to own.

Watch the news in the coming days. I will be robbing a bank to get these. Decided against robbing the Louvre.

No paper setlists on the list here, either (see the “Setlist in the 60s and 70s” thread that I started recently).

The rarest collection coming from the No 1 and most humble collector. Interesting to see what prices are realized in the current economy ?

I looked through the Ali Zayeri catalogue and wasn't particularly impressed overall. (Yes, there are some choice items, but not that many.)

I'd reckon that he's not even in the same league as Matt Lee. He (Matt) has to be No.1

The collecting world is not a matter of league, it's a matter of love and passion.
Most of the collectors I know are staying in the shadow and like to share their gems in private and believe me they got some very rare stuff.

An issue of his collection is the authenticity and provenance of quite a lot items.

That is actually not that much for such an important piece of history... I wish I could afford stuff like this... I even passed on a $9 Pretty Things CD the other day, thinking I should not spend so much money on stuff I do not necessarily need. hot smiley

I went to a preview of the auction in London a few weeks ago. It was amazing to see those guitar5s of Brian's and some of the clothes from the 60s.

Apologies for the size of the photo. Not sure how to reduce the size.
