I have the Scorpio Capitol Connection 2cd. One of my favorites too. Is it just a copy of Garden State? It says Garden State on the discs and if I recall I think I remember hearing some pops in the recording. It has a pretty unique cover also. Check it out.

to your question i haven't heard it but i would assume by your description that yes it's probably a copy with street fighting man edited out for some reason

The reason Street Fighting Man was edited out is that a fan/bootlegger ejected the tape from the control desk (how now that is possible and desks were at that time rarely out in the middle of the audience, especially during such a small show as the New Jersey one) during the last song which was SFM. But that is the story I've read in the excellent Stones Setlist book (which title I've forgot as I've only borrowed it once in 2003 but read it a thousand times during a year and as I have a photographic memory when it comes to two things in life, the Stones and beautiful women, I clearly remember that). Anyway the book's title was quoted here on iorr not so long ago and I do believe Rockman has got a copy...?

Rattlesnake’s Sucking In Detroit is a good one. It has, among others, the sbd/aud Street Fighting Man from Passaic tacked on the end of disc 2. Excellent stereo sound throughout. Another fave from ‘78.

yes i actually relayed that same story about the cassette on the previous page of the this threadgrinning smiley

my point was that a three minute incomplete version of street fighting man is on the smilin' dork vinyl boot of the that show but was edited out of the scorpio boot

and i think i know the book your talking about

i used to check it out all the time at my local library before i discovered nico's wonderful site

can't recall the title or the author but in my book the story about the stolen cassette was near the end in a section were the author reluctantly gave a few bootleg recommendations

My theory is that the cassette tape used for the recording was C-90 type and ran out before the band finished Street Fighting Man. Hard to imagine that somebody snuck up to the sound desk, stealthily pushed the eject button and snatched the tape away unnoticed while the show was going on. The culprit did the job after the show, not before it was over.

And the reason SFM was edited out on the Scorpio CD is because it was incomplete. Simple as that.

My two cents.

Ok This is very hard to nail down. When I think of bootlegs I always refer to my vinyl in my collection. CDs or Cdr were always available to download or upload.
The thrill of finding an Initial vinyl LP Bootleg going back the years was an immesnse feeling you had something that was very limited .
Anyway after a quick flick through of my vinyl Boots here are 5 that I picked out at random initally.

1] Bright Lights Big City [First Vinyl Boot I ever bought

2] Garden State78 . [Stolen tapes from the Stones mixing desk ]

3] Bedsring Symphony and a meat Whistle Live in Concert

4] Accidents Will Happen [Double vinyl studio outtakes.

5] The Tridnt Mixes [2 LP ]

This is only starters.......
