Calling, Nankstone! Ring… ring… time for another count winking smiley

Nah, take your time grinning smiley

For those yet to vote: get voting in IORR’s greatest-ever poll!

I agree, if someone likes the Stones' recording of a cover song so much that it becomes a favorite – why not?

Many songs written by Jagger/Richards are also so influenced by old blues/rock songs that you could almost consider them "cover adaptations"...
Who wants to draw the line there?

I took a closer look at our voting list.
Out of 134 different songs:
1 solo song
8 cover songs with one vote
2 cover songs with two votes (It's All Over Now / Little Queenie)
123 songs are Jagger/Richards compositions (some in collaboration with others (Ronnie, Andrew Watt, M. Faithful etc. or Nanker/Phelge compositions))

So, in total of 535 votings:
13 votes for cover songs and 1 solo song
522 votes for Jagger/Richards compositions

@ Big Al : next update tomorrow

Edit: didn't someone vote for 'Blue', a Mick Jagger B-side? I have never heard it, myself.

To be fair, Blue is a good song.
Perhaps once this one is done and dusted we should ask everyone's favourite Stones solo songs! :'D

Thank you, Nankstone!

We now have an incredible 50 tracks on our 3-votes-upwards chart!

I had been wondering which album will be the most represented, and it does appear to be Sticky Fingers, with 9 of its 10 tracks represented; the unsurprising omission being You Gotta Move. Goats Head Soup is doing surprisingly well. Anything a little off? Yes: the 1963-1965 period is very underrepresented, with only (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction and - bizarrely - Tell Me (You’re Coming Back) representing the era of - probably - greatest success on the global singles/charts. I don’t this finding necessarily means it’s less liked, more so that, perhaps, our very-favourite recordings are not from this given time. After all, it was in 1868 that the incredible run really begun.

I’m really enjoying this poll’s journey, and very-much hoping we continue to entice the IORR faithful to participate by submitting their votes. Let’s keep it up!

Yep, the end of the Civil War soon inspired people to come together and play, also across the pond smileys with beer

As for the 1792 tour, wasn't that consisting of mostly Mozart covers honouring him as he had croaked the year before, along with the medieval chanting stuff they soon would drop?

Anyone who hasn't voted yet, please do so. 112 members and - hopefully! - counting!

Re: Top 5 Stones tracks

Perhaps no new Stones votes are being added right now, because the three solo votes are currently in full swing.
Perhaps it's also harder to name five top Stones songs than five solo songs.
Perhaps the members who have already voted in the solo votes but haven't yet voted in the Stones poll could still decide to post their five favorite Stones songs...

Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps winking smiley

I've checked, and if I haven't missed anything, it should be the following members. Of course, anyone else who hasn't voted yet can also vote.

incorrect votes "Stones Top 5"
GasLightStreet - incorrect vote (10 Songs)
MizzAmandaJonez - incorrect vote (2 lists)

I voted for it. Its enough for me that a person or two reading this thread hears it for the first time. But let's also admit there are lesser songs on the list without appearances from all the core stones.
