Thank you for the information ironbelly. Fingers crossed it's in Lisbon. Maybe you're there too?
Well... Hardly I shall travel a half of country in the middle of the week to the movie. I am not retired yet winking smiley. And there is IMAX in Porto. So, you know, let us wait for the screening schedule.

Maybe this would give me a reason to finally get back to Porto. I'm not big on driving anymore myself.

There are some more: ODEON Wimbledon, ODEON Greenwich, BFI IMAX (1 Charlie Chaplin Walk) London, ODEON Kingston....
A little note on the site: "You may be required to show ID for this film". For adults only? Lol.

I saw it in Rotterdam in the IMAX theater which unfortunately don't excist anymore.
I remember that I was annoyed that I heard people chatting or screaming with eachother behind me, so I looked angry behind me but nobody talked and then I realised that it was the audience in the movie and that the sound was so increbible that it looked and sounded like it was for real near me.

What would’ve really been spooky is if you could still smell the herbal essence in the theatre during 2,000 Light Years from Turin, Italy 1990.

All three IMAX theaters in Portugal - in Lisbon (Colombo Shopping Center), Cascais (Cascais Shopping) and Porto (Mar Shopping) - will screen from December 10 till December 15 (or 16). Two movie sessions per day are scheduled - around 16 and around 18-19 (depending on location). Tickets are already on sale.

I enjoyed this when it came out. Saw it 3 times.

The sound was incredible.

Since then whatever documentary aspects of it have made it a bit... sullied: portions of the movie are lip syncing/miming - and with typical Stones doing a music video fashion - horrific miming from the string section.

If I bother to go see it again it will be for the sound - and the screwup in IORR.

When my daughter was 2 she was hooked on Sad Sad Sad since it was simple to sing. The movie came out when she was 4, and wanted to see it so we did! I asked her if she wanted to pretend she was 4 again so we're going together in LA....

I see now that Filmstaden (Sweden's largest cinema chain) have IMAX cinemas in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Uppsala. I saw the film, back then, at Cosmonova, which is a planetarium at
The Swedish Museum of Natural History in Stockholm. Which is an experience in itself. Apparently they have IMAX laser now. I don't know if they are going to show the Stones film though.

Me and my friend were filmed in the audience in Wembley, we saw the movie several times in Rotterdam, as we are Dutch. The Dutch fanclub Shattered had a special night with Chris Jagger being there as a special guest.
We can see ourselfs during Honky Tonk Woman.
I remember that someone said to me that I was longer in the movie than Bill Wyman, as they did not film him at all.eye popping smiley

This, disgustingly, is from today's mailshot from The Machine. The one that's promoting this special event IMAX-wise.

Captured with groundbreaking IMAX film cameras during their legendary 1990 Urban Jungle Tour, The Rolling Stones: At the Max brings Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, and Charlie Watts back to the big screen for an explosive, immersive concert experience.

Classics like Satisfaction, Brown Sugar and Start Me Up are amplified by IMAX’s unmatched sound and scale — putting you right in the middle of the crowd, with a front-row seat to rock history.

For a limited time from 10 December, see the world’s greatest rock and roll band — bigger, louder, and larger than life.

In case you missed it above, this is the band as listed...

At the Max brings Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, and Charlie Watts

Isn't there a name missing there?! At the point of filming Bill was 100% a band member.

Just as bad as explicitly photoshopping him out of the cover of Rarities.

Was stoked to see this in LA on a proper mega-sized screen like AMC Universal, but looks like it's only playing on laser at the Grove and Century City

"...legendary 1990 Urban Jungle Tour" is also wrong. Most parts of the IMAX film were shot in the U.S. during the 1989 Steel Wheels Tour. Only a few parts, including front row crowds, were shot in Europe the following summer. They actually considered re-using the Steel Wheels stage -- either for one of the Urban Jungle concerts or to be rebuilt in Central Europe without an actual show -- only to manufacture more footage which would then be mixed with the American film material but that plan never materialized.

However omitting Bill Wyman is a much bigger, unforgivable faux-pas, there's so much BS everywhere. These "authors" don't even bother to check if their AI-creations are in fact correct.

I always thought that a bulk of the footage was shot at one of the Wembley shows?

Edit: Wikipedia states Wembley, Turin, and East Berlin

London, Turin and East Berlin is correct. They used the Steel Wheels stage for these occasions. Hence the Steel Wheels stage on the Urban Jungle tour.
A lot of overdubs on this film. Both audio and visuals. A cut and paste job.

"A lot" is an understatement!!

The London show that they filmed was one of the re-scheduled shows that had originally been cancelled (short notice) because Keith had an infected finger.

The original tour carried on with the Urban Jungle stage stuff being moved over to Europe, so (quite cleverly IMHO) they put up the Steel Wheels stage stuff in Wembley for the re-scheduled gig - which I was at by the way.

It was Bill Wyman's last live show as a member of the band - which of course makes his omission from that disgusting marketing even more offensive.

When you see a scene in a stadium it's London or Torino. The flat ground was East Berlin Weißensee (2 shows). There's a part showing a wet stage: Berlin second show. - Yes, a lot of overdubs.

Thanks. That was REALLY INTERESTING!!

When I'd been told that the film was made up from several shows (London, Berlin, Turin etc) I'd assumed that it was, as it were, song from one, then a song from another, then another and so on.

I did NOT realise that so much had been done in what looks like an empty sound stage with the Steel Wheels props all there and the band either miming to, or precisely recreating, a concert. Quite the revelation.

But I did, I really did, know more than is good for me to know about the overdubs.

Just look again at the film. You can see in one scene that they're playing in a stadium and then in the next second you see the Berlin field. There's a scene at Start me up where you can see Charlie changing from hi-hat to ride cymbal but you still hear the hi-hat. In the end it's a film and a very good one. I Like it as IT is. Btw you can see these Things in other movies like Gimme Shelter and Let's spend the night together as well. Even in Hyde Park they change from Show 1 to Show 2 during a song.

It’s a pity that during the 60s and 70s documentation resources weren’t as accessible as they are today, nor were people aware of their future impact (every night felt like a Saturday night). But imagine what it would mean to have the 60s and 70s so well recorded—an archive with dozens and dozens of films like LSTNT by Hal Ashby or this IMAX.

There are a lot of cringe moments with the video overdubbing but Honky Tonk Women has to the worst of them all.
