"The Greatest concert film ever made?" Its barely in their top 5 of concert films, let alone the great pantheon of everyone.

Having said that, I'll enjoy seeing this in a theater.

Am I to believe this film is going to return to theaters? That would be great. Last time I saw it 3 times in Metz France. Was a lot of fun.

That was the movie, many long years ago, that ignited my interest in the Stones!

I wonder if I’ll still like them. grinning smiley

Excellent. Missed my chance to see it as a teenager. Bought the VHS when it came out, but obviously not the same.

They might as well have shown it in regular movie theatres. The Imax format doesn't make that big difference here. On the other hand I don't think rock concerts are sell outs at the cinemas. And hardly a 35 year old one.

I saw this in the IMAX theatre in Bradford - England in 1992 during a break in radiotherapy - it was a much needed boost at the time - put a spring back in my step.

Hey yeah went and saw it a few times back in the day ....

At the time there were 2 Imax theaters in the country
and At The Max was about the only Imax film worth catching
if yer weren't into some bears rolling down a mountain
or maybe some eagles floating around up near the clouds ....

And for some crazy reason whenever they
screened At the Max they only ran midnight sessions .......

I too went to the Bradford screening. (At the time it was the only IMAX screen in the UK.)

Although Melbourne is blessed with the largest IMAX screen in the southern hemisphere and the second largest in the world, as of this posting although they DO have some screenings of other films booked as far as mid-2026 (!!), "At The Max" is not showing up for December this year.

I quite enjoyed watching it and happened to be at the UK Wembley show where some extra shots were done.

(My last visit to the IMAX was to watch The Beatles Rooftop Concert extract from "Let it Be" on the big screen. Overwhelming.)

-Too loud. I saw it at the cinema at Aker Brygge, Oslo, about 1998, I think.

Amazing, I saw it in Philly IMAX, with the surrounding screen - it was almost like being there!

This movie was released in 1991.

The world has changed an awful lot since then! The Internet existed, but the World Wide Web had only just been invented. Home video was mainly VHS, but DVD was coming and there was nothing at all remotely like BluRay or 4k.

IMAX movies were a quality step up from the very best movies then available. 72 frames per second and much larger film. (That stuff has to be moved around by fork lift truck in projection rooms.)

So The Rolling Stones were giving their fans the very best technology available for a specially shot concert movie from the game changing Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle era.

For the time it was frigging awesome!!!!! Give them credit for that.

Perhaps there are now technically "better" concert movies, but this one takes some beating.

This isn't Twitter or X.

That was a while ago with one release.

Horrible decision. If one could get into the psyche of Mick and Keith being okay with that release...

Ego driven issues are political. For whatever dumb reason then they eliminated Bill from the cover.

That's where they were at the time. It was ego. Bad choice.

I saw it two times.

It was a joy.

But... ha ha. maybe they shouldn've been so open about it.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong:

The Rolling Stones have...

If a survey was done in New Orleans about the most thrown away food it's simple:

Rice.

Crazy to think it was shot in 70mm IMAX, equivalent to 18K in digital resolution.

It's fun to go back in time when large inflatable dolls were regarded as a great addition
to live rock 'n roll music.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Yes but I doubt they'll show it on IMAX reeles. It's remastered so probably the same digital transfer that was done for the Blu Ray release which is already very good.

The blu ray is from an old 2K master but still looks good yeah.
This one is impressive, just by watching the Youtube trailer you can see more details, even if it's compressed. I guess it's from a new 4K or maybe 8K restoration. I didn't find any information about the restoration.

Could be a 4K-UHD disc release then in 2026 (35th anniversary edition).

Had most of the albums from the start, but when my brother and I saw this film in Chicago, we started going to the shows! Never looked back.

Within the first few minutes, we looked at each other, our mouths hanging open. As Midwestern kids, we had no idea they were still that good! cool smiley

There are very few original IMAX film projectors these days. Here in Melbourne they do have the capability to show "old" stock". But it's quite the effort!!!

These days IMAX is projected using multiple lasers scanning across the screen at very (!!) high speed.

So, who knows, maybe the original film stock has been re-scanned to fully digitise it?

I saw it in Sydney in 1997. Even though I had always liked them, I became a huge fan afterwards. It was definitely a turning point for me.

Looks like that it's a new scan since the YouTube trailer is already in 4K and as others mentioned above, it has a better picture quality than the already very good 2009 BluRay.

Apart from the IMAX premiere, they will release it on vinyl, 4k, etc.
