Ugh, I really believed them when they said RUSH was over. Having said that, I spoke to a friend a year ago when Geddy was kicking this around and said "I don't know what places you sell unless you call it Rush." MAYBE you can do theaters under the Geddy Lee/Alex Lifeson name, but for marketing purposes I get that it has to be Rush. And they have Neil's family's blessing so who am I to argue. I'll be there opening night in LA, but there's a hint of sadness for me that I thought "ah, they will mean it and end things classy." Love that they are getting out and playing more, especially Alex who it was never a guarantee could play at this level still with his hand issues, and they weren't wrong 10 years ago about it being the end of Neil.

Happy I saw them then, and will be happy to support this, though I do wish it wasn't called Rush. And what I do hope is even if Geddy can't sing them, I'd love them to jam on some early Rush live, cause hearing Alex play that guitar from those songs would be a dream.

Anyone know anything about Anika Nilles? I just watched a couple videos on the Consequence of Sound page, and while her style definitely fits the prog/ fusion format for Rush, when I think of Neil P, I think of someone known for his speed and slick snare work (as on YYZ)... I haven't been a proper Rush fan since I was a kid, but that little tour announcement vid was super cute and now I'm all curious. Rush fans, what do you think of Nilles??? :^)

I don't know anything about her, so that doesn't answer your question. And I probably won't seek out anything of hers. I basically have blind faith in Ged and Alex to pick the right person, especially knowing what Neil on drums was and means. I imagine they wouldn't do it if they didn't feel it was right, and mostly felt right to them. They have their literal pick of any drummer they'd want to fill Neil's shoes so I imagine she either can nail it or does it in her own way that is respectful and still meshes with them. Geddy and Alex aren't making this announcement if they aren't positive she will fit in with them and it will sound good.

I actually applaud the approach of going less well known. I would have put money on someone of Dave Grohl's stature taking it and I think that steals focus.

Happy for Geddy and Alex. They didn’t want to stop after R40, but respected Neil’s wishes to end it then and there.

Having said that, I won’t be going. I won’t go see the Stones without Charlie Watts or the Eagles without Glen Frey either.

But I expect it will be very good and hope everybody who goes has a great time!

I can dig it. But then I was just thinking The Who and McCartney shows this last week might be the last gasp when it comes to classic bands who broke 50 years ago or more.

Was at the last Forum show.

After hearing Rick Beato's take on it and the new drummer, and seeing a couple of her videos I'm excited.

I've seen RUSH a ton. I think Alex is one of the best guitarists I've ever tried to copy! If he's in, I'm in although I am shocked that this came up. No idea who she is but I hope she makes it her own rather than copy note for note. There are some definitive drum parts she'll need to nail but theres also room for interpretation...good luck Al and Ged

I don't like Rush.

Admired them.

But.

I think what's happening is fantastic.

As someone said, not verbatim, If not now, when?

Someone can say

Oh they're...

My vinyl collection consists of - it's not thousands - various of what I like.... and a bunch of stuff I have no idea about.

Maye more with CDs.

It’s great one more time. I would have preferred a male drummer.Good luck to them.
Never seen ‘‘em but do like them lots. Toronto here I come. My first time back in 11 years.

I heard a discussion on the radio today - apparently Geddy’s guitar tech was on a tour in Europe and met the drummer, Annika Niles, and recommended her. They met her and jammed and were impressed - ‘she’s the one.’ Neil was irreplaceable, so for them to take to the road again, she must be good. Good for her, and I’ll be interested to see her.

I read in an interview there will be more members in the band. It will not be a 3 piece. If I get an LA ticket I will go but not going to lose sleep if I don't. If The Who, The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, Yes etc etc can tour they should do it if they want. If they didn't, they wouldn't.

They've very much wanted to do this for awhile. Before Neil died, then several times after, especially after they were great at the Taylor Hawkins tribute and McCartney said "why aren't you guys on the road?!" so I am glad they got it together. Geddy was very vocal on his book tour that he'd love to go out so I'm glad Alex was happy about it too.

I was well into Rush in my youth up until the time I saw them for the first and only time in 1981. They were just too good, they could have been miming! When Neil Peart died in 2020 it reawakened my interest in them and I too thought Geddy and Alex were great at the Taylor Hawkins tribute. If they come to the UK I will try and get a ticket.

I don't like Rush.

Xanadu was a fine tune - their only one I really liked, between 5:49 and 6:58 in particular. A very melodic part.

Amen to that! Hey Geddy, Toronto isn't the only %#&*ing city in Canada.

No shows for the SF Bay Area. Really bummed about that.

Was hoping they would add some other cities instead of extending their residencies in the cities already announced. But really, at this point, whatever they’re comfortable with. If all is going well, there will probably be more shows.

I think this is a prelude to the Sphere but they didn't want to do just the Sphere.

Only the third drummer in Rush history !!

I've seen a few videos, and it seems like a great choice. Whether they should return or not is another matter, but they have every right to do whatever they want.

Let's see if they can keep this level -hard workers-.

Ugh, I really believed them when they said RUSH was over.

REM hasn't gotten back together. So someone is staying true.

Obviously it's a tribute to Peart and can only be done as Rush. And it's their deal, no one else.

Why not.

If not now, when?

They're comfortable about it. That means something. That's no different than the Stones continuing.

I heard something about The Eagles, somehow, regarding WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER and the song Get Over It being great.

That's beyond absurd saying such a thing - it's a horrendous song, second worst to We Built This City, perhaps the most atrocious song ever written. How anyone could truly say such a horrible thing is astounding.

They were RUSH before Neil so more power to them. I know what Neil brought to them but that first album stands the test of time in its own right too. With John Lodge’s passing it reminds me of how it’s very similar to the transformation and success Justin brought to the Moodies. Almost two different bands who both might’ve never achieved the success and longevity that followed.

If the shows are good it will be a cool think but if it just ends up feeling like a money grab then it won't. We will know pretty quickly once the tour starts.
