If he has any copies left just get Erwin’s book about the tour.. It goes into great detail on most (if not all) of the boots from every show on the tour

To each their own. I think the Pittsburgh performance is solid but a bit lackluster.

Charlotte is blistering, though! Many of those mid-tour shows like Norfolk, Mobile, Washington, Fort Worth and Chicago are great performances. Some early shows are great too, like The Hollywood Palladium. Early on they weren't as stuck in a route as later. Philly shows are great too.

Is this the proposed album? How did a radio station get soundboards?

I've got a few boots that are supposed to be the album, some songs even have overdubs.

Re: Stones best 1972 bootlegs

Houston, Fort Worth and Philly? Uptight/Satisfaction are song 10 and 11?

I too have several alleged versions of the lost live album.

The overdubbed stuff is on the Rattlesnake box set + on "Very Ancient, Thank You Kindly, among others.

This is what was planned, according to Nico:

720811B 11th August: THE ROLLING STONES. US radio (WMMS)/(Radio Cleveland).
Broadcast of the unreleased 1972 tour live-album.
- You Can't Always Get What You Want (MJ/KR) - Houston 25.6.72, 1st show
- Sweet Virginia (MJ/KR) -Philadelphia 21.7.72, 1st show
- Bitch (MJ/KR) -Philadelphia 20.7.72
- All Down The Line (MJ/KR) -Houston 25.6.72, 1st show
- Happy (MJ/KR) -Fort Worth 24.6.72, 1st show
- Tumbling Dice (MJ/KR) -Philadelphia 20.7.72
- Rip This Joint (MJ/KR)-Fort Worth 24.6.72, 1st show
- Gimme Shelter (MJ/KR) -Philadelphia 20.7.72
- Brown Sugar (MJ/KR) -Philadelphia 20.7.72
- Uptight/Satisfaction (Sylvia Moy/Henry Cosby/Stevie Wonder)(MJ/KR) -unidentified source, July 1972
Note: Some dates and places are unsure.

Rumour is the source of the radio broadcast was the Bill Graham organisation. Because the material had been broadcast we were able to release it under the copyright gap rules.

Lackluster? It's completely fueled by coke and runs at double speed! There's a lot to be said about the last couple of shows from the 1972 tour, but 'lackluster'??

Maybe Steenhorst is referring to some of the versions (I think Ft worth, and one of the NYC) where MT starts out the song solo-ing all over the first verse, until Keith reigns it back in around Chorus 1.

Most likely Vancouver where Taylor takes a blistering solo.

I'd have to pillage my dad's CD's and cassettes, but I believe Philadelphia Special was my favorite as a kid. Perth (technically 1973) too.

Ft Worth Express came later as I specifically remember I would burn copies of it for his friends.

It’s too bad they didn’t release a live album with the Exile Deluxe Edition in 2010.Instead they released the crappy sound Ladies and Gentlemen. There are lots of great shows from 1972, but the bootlegs have mostly bad sound.

So what soundboard boots exist in the wild?

Pittsburgh?

Philly (two shows?)

Houston (two shows?)

Ft Worth (two shows?)

Is NYC soundboard or audience?

Agreed, the '72 tour deserves better.
