Very sad loss.

By chance last week I re-watched All The Presidents Men and he was outstanding in that movie.

The Sundance Kid in Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid
The Sting (alongside Paul Newman again and George Roy Hill directing again)
The Way We Were
Three Days Of The Condor (with Sydney Pollack directing again)
Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby
All The President's Men
The Natural
Out Of Africa (again with Sydney Pollack)
An excellent later career effort with All Is Lost (which, when asked why he hadn't done a big movie in a while said "no one asked me to")

Then also directing Ordinary People, Quiz Show, etc.

What a HELL of a career. Up there with a Jack Nicholson I feel like of nothing short of extraordinary.

Via Sundance he was very much a supporter of independent and experimental movies, too. A real industry icon. RIP.

The Old Man & The Gun ......
had to travel to another city
to see it in a small art-house theater .....
It was a easy going relaxed film with subtle
messages and Tom Waits in there somewhere toooo .....

Thanks for all you gave Mr Redford

Rest In Peace
Safe Journey

Think you used enough dynamite there Butch?

The Candidate is both a time capsule of 1972 and a timeless story relevant to this day. Redford was born to play this role. This is a perfect movie.

The Great Waldo Pepper about a barnstorming pilot is often overlooked but it has some great moments and gives you a glimpse into the wild pre-FAA early days of aviation.

Also Downhill Racer.. For an older film the action sequences are pretty exciting, and the scenery is great

A truly good if not great actor. The Way We Were, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting are all faves. He was also a fun watch in Barefoot In The Park with Jane Fonda which, IMO, is an underrated comedic gem. RIP sir.

Recommended Viewing: His 2013 late-career masterpiece All Is Lost, in which he is the only cast member and (very nearly) utters not a single word during the entire film. I take it to be a meditation on aging and dying. Slowly but surely, and despite his best efforts to save himself, everything ultimately goes to Hell.

One of the best scenes in any movie is the last scene in Butch Cassidy where Redford and Newman are surrounded by Mexican troops .He made a lot of great films.Three Days of the Condor is one of his underrated ones.

And RR was a great Stones fan, I recall seeing a photo of him backstage in LA I think on the 1975 tour. One of the finest actors ever.

pool's in but the patio ain't dry

................typically, I would dismiss good looking actors. I never did this with Redford, or Newman. 2 incredibly talented actors who nailed every role they portrayed. Peace to them both!!!

One of my favorite film actors, RIP, Bob.

For:
"The Way We Were"
"All the President's Men"
and more...including "All Is Lost."

And for directing "Ordinary People,"
"The River Runs Through It,"
and developing The Sundance Institute and
Film Festival.
