There are some interesting song titles registered on the ASCAP website written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Does anybody have any information on them? Obviously a few of them we've heard before on bootlegs but cool to see some unreleased numbers that have yet to surface.

Most likely in regard to copyrights since none of those were ever officially published.

The ABKCO Music songs will never be released officially.

Panama Powder Room and - I think - Gold Painted Nails, were two of the tracks selected by Bill Wyman for the unreleased 'Black Box' compilation.

It would be nice if Abkco were to release a lot of these uncirculated 60's recordings. There doesn't necessarily need to be excessive effort put into the project; just dump it on streaming services, with the recording-year noted. Us, experts, can fathom the rest grinning smiley

Indeed - it would be nice if those could be released officially in any form. But: the damn obstacle is The Stones - they have a veto for any non-yet released item from the ABKCO era. And as we know, they are not that into helping to promote any ABKCO/Klein-related release. I am pretty sure that ABKCO would release anything if they only had a permission. (My theory is that the question is about so little money that the Stones have afford to act cool and just enjoy being able to say f u to ABKCO)

But interesting little fact is that the bulk of those ASCAP titles derives from ABKCO-era.

She's Doing Her Thing was part of the Fully Finished bootleg a few years ago.
Does it mean they considered a release of an ABKCO song anyway, now that Klein is gone ?

Jody Klein seems a lot more receptive to cooperating with the band and vice versa.

She's Doing Her Thing, Highway Child, and Blood Red Wine are good, IMHO.

Munich Hilton is a title I've heard mentioned for years, but never heard it.

Highway Child is an early open tuning attempt and sounds a little awkward, though.

The real Munich Hilton is the Paris Outtakes from Vigotone version, from Winter 1977, without Jagger's vocals. They did another version with vocals in 1979, and revisited it again in 1982 and added another bridge to it.

All in all we have 8 (available) versions of Munich Hilton between 1977 and 1982, one of them blending into Brown Leaves.

Thank you for posting, ProfessorWolf!

I have often felt that ‘Get Yourself Together’ would have been a good fit on Between The Buttons; that’s when it dates from, right? It sounds a little later than Aftermath.

Faction (Perhaps just Satisfaction?) (Published by ABKCO Music Inc.)

This is most certainly Charlie's version.

Morning Joe Cues (Published by PROMOPUB BV)

This title was discussed soon before Hackney Diamonds was released, and it's probably just some incidental music for a TV show, like "Friday Night Videos Cues" listed as a Keith/Paul Shaffer song.

There's some other titles also listed on Ascap's website:

This Time It's my Life
Give me Your Hand
Don't You Follow Me No More
War Baby
Shoot Off Your Mouth
Radio Control
Laser Jukebox

About halfway through Gold Painted Nails I started to laugh it's so absurd and demented. She's Doing Her Thing is not quite as absurd but it is funny.

Too bad they didn't finish Rotten Roll for SOME GIRLS as Woody's artwork suggests.

Get Yourself Together is killer.

Yes, which makes me think it’s Jagger on guitar, and actually recording Bitch in its infancy

yes they are

does that mean they started as stones songs or were they just mistakenly mixed into this list of others songs because of there association with mick?

It should say if Richards is a co-writer or not.

There are a lot more songs on the site, like Extreme Western Grip. I did a deep dive a few years ago and found some Mick Taylor solo songs as well. He did say he had another album in the can after Stone’s Throw.

The song I’m really trying to locate is Walk With Me Wendy, which is not listed under that name. I don’t think Jagger is even singing “Wendy”, but actually “honey”. I’m assuming it’s titled something else.

I Don’t Know Why and Hillside Blues are listed. Did they really try for the Stevie Wonder song? lol. I Ain’t Lying and I’m Not Signifying are both listed.

Makes me think they protected some working titles before they released the songs.

Extreme Western Grip is officially released, though.

I Don't Know Why was first wrongly released as a Jagger/Richards/Taylor composition. It might have something to do with that?

I know the Wonder song was incorrectly released with their credits, so it should be removed from the catalog. No Taylor credits listed on ASCAP/ABKCO.

I am only familiar with the video jam and not an actual CD release. I don't see Bluesberry Jam FWIW. It seems there is no rhyme or reason.

I can't find some what-should-be ABCKO owned Jagger/Richards songs like Good Time Women, So Divine, and Dancing In The Light. Strange. BUT they were instrumentals at the time of the settlement with Klein. Potted Shrimp and Country Boy (both instrumentals) aren't listed either. Travelin Man and Give Me A Hamburger To Go (both from 1970) aren't listed, and both have lyrics.

I think Blow Me Mama might be Hey Mama (July 1970), which might actually be Walk With Me Wendy. A modern mystery, that one!

According to Nico's Complete Works, Blow Me Mama came from the SATANIC Sessions in October 1967. The same sessions for She's Doing Her Thing.

I can't remember where I read it but Rotten Roll was the working title for Before They Make Me Run. There's a prototype of the back cover to Some Girls that lists Rotten Roll that I have on my phone from Exhibitionism.
