Record Collector was one of the first 'music magazines' I would regularly purchase, circa 2000. It's nice to read that it's still around, considering the likes of the NME are now online, only. Then again, I suppose RC is more a niche offering, and will always have it's place for those who collect.

It seems very interesting with all those new articles written these months.... I hope no "déjà vu "...!

Part I was rather disappointing, IMO

Wonder if Peter Doggett is involved, he wrote a great series on the "Lost Recordings" in 1993 and 1994. I still have them...somewhere !

AMEN

I still buy Stones, The Who and Oasis specials but nowadays there are almost no new articles or new info when buying 'em.

The worst is the new Oasis book, "A Sound So Very Loud", written by Hamish McBain and Ted Kessler. I've read about 120 pages and especially Kessler has gotten loads of stuff wrong, it's almost embarrasing to see that from someone who's been in the music game since around 1990. He makes Victor Bockris look like someone who's been around our boys since 1962 smileys with beer

Usually the music mags also get picture captions wrong, it's exhausting to write and complain so often as I do as there are more important things to do in life.

Great tip. Thanks. I ordered both the 60s and the 70s edition right away.

Did you get the new one ? Is it less disappointing ?

I've stopped buying magazines with articles about the Stones because the amount of errors is just distracting. You'd think that in this days and age anyone would be able to check facts easily...

If you didn't like Volume 1, you won't like Volume 2 either.
Two pages for each album and articles on collaborators, keyboardists, an interview with Marlon Richards, rarities selected by Matt Lee, interviews with collectors from around the world... I found them interesting, but I'm not a big collector who only cares about truly rare items.
The discography section (4 pages) has some errors, but it's fine for someone who's been collecting for a while.

Unfortunately, part II is also rather disappointing.
It’s be a magazine for record collectors…
