This is a short sketch about the Rolling Stones. It’s in German, but you can turn on English subtitles.

Glad I had a little time today to watch all these great clips. I miss Robin Williams. He was brilliant.

From March 2019 „Mitternachtsspitzen" Herbert Knebel as Keith Richards on the Brexit. Keith speaks German here, learned it from Uschi Obermaier:

pretty poor imitation… Keith speaking German– might be; Keith pronouncing every world in whatever language in a way it's perfectly understandable – no way!

that's fantastic

thank you

The Barron Knights were actually quite popular/well known in the UK in the early 1960's. They did an act where they performed (respectful) parodies of then top hits (hence The Rolling Stones). They charted (singles) 4 times in 1964 & 1965.

Clearly they were competent musicians - to be able to imitate reasonably accurately a very wide a range of music styles.

They were even a support act during The Beatles' first London Christmas Show (at the Finsbury Park Astoria - later The Rainbow.)

There's even an intriguing Rolling Stones connection.... but you need to read [en.wikipedia.org] to see what it is.

I think most Jagger and Richards imitations are rather bad. In general Beatles imitations are much better, maybe because they're less stereotypical.
The best and funniest Jagger imitation I know of is by David Bowie:

I remember Joan Rivers was doing a stand up comedy routine, I believe on the Johnny Carson show and she was talking about Mick, and said, "He used to be Jumping Jack Flash, but at his age he is more like Limping Jack Flash"....And that was 40+ years ago!

The ageism jokes, which seems to be the focal point, are pretty lazy. They would be more valid if their careers were downhill. Which it never really was. At least not commercially.

The mindset is pretty funny though. Rock or pop is something you're supposed to do or listen to in your teens an, maybe, a couple of more years. After that you're supposed to be a grown up...
