Mick Jagger singing with James Brown at the Apollo

I read in some interview (from JB ou MJ) that James Brown spotted Mick Jagger at the Apollo during a show, and Soul Brother Number One invited him to join on stage. And Mick obliged and song.

Any clue when, or press clip?

«I went on stage with him at the Apollo in the seventies. He called me up on stage with him. It was kind of a cringy moment for me, because English people don’t really…(laughs)…I just wanted to watch the show. I wasn’t there to be called up to dance with James Brown. But of course, you had to. That was the first time I was on stage at the Apollo, funny enough. James was always very nice to me, always giving me advice.»

............I was raised on Soul, R&B, and R'n Roll, thanks to my older brother, and I thank him to this day!!!!!. In fact, the only Stones tour I missed was the 1969 tour, because it was one of those things where I had slowly drifted from the Stones,.............luckily,I never drifted far; my other brother re-focused me with the Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed albumssmiling smiley.smiling smiley (while still big on soul and R'n cool smiley!

.............All throughout the 70's I was fortunate to see JB, Big Joe Turner, Wilson Pickett, and so many other soul artists at the 500-1000 capacity Sugar Shack, and Lupo's. Actually met James twice!!. So many incredible memories.

............not to mention The Johnny Otis show!!!!!

At the time of the 2015 Sticky Fingers reissue there were
2-3 interviews on Amazon site of Don Was interview
Mick & Keith ....

In one of those interviews Mick talks about how they were at
Apollo and James Brown asked for spotlight to be shone on them
and then asked Mick to come on stage and join him ....

Mick was laughing about how Keith and Charlie were embarrassed by
it all and Keith was nearly hiding under the seat .....

Wish those interviews were still around .... Any one have them ?????

It is interesting that you mention Keef being embarrassed. I always thought that , he had that curious look of "who me?" when getting an award, or when he was being singled out on the stage, or being interviewed. As far as Charlie, to him it was "just a bunch of poppycock"....unless, of course he was with his Jazz friends!!!!smoking smileyspinning smiley sticking its tongue out
