Which Stones song lifts you up from the ground when you are down?

Being here since 25 years many of you became kind of family to me. It's a bit like having friends without ever seen their faces or met them in personal but feeling more intimate with them, with you. Sometimes more then with people who live 25 years in my neighborhood. I even often don't have to read the name above a post.
I often know just by the style and spirit of the post that it's Bjoern Ulf, Gaslight Street, Dandelion, Rockman, Toronto Girl (long time quiet), Big Al, Keef Richards, Professor Wolf, Rolling Freak, Rolling Hansi, Dean Goodman, Christiano Radtke (the pearl finder), Exile and many many more. I feel save here. To say my opinion and to share my feelings. Today I am in a very sad and exhausted mood because my parents are facing the end of their lives. As they did everything together in the last 65 years of their marriage they got ill one after the other laying now in the same nursing home fighting death room's next to each other. Just a wall between them. So I jump between those rooms. Holding his hands, walk over and stroking her head. Coming home I am often powerless and sad. And then I feel the wish to get picked up from the ground by a piece of music. And in this situation like in all situation which really deeply matters it all comes down to the Stones. They are my best music companions and in moments like this with the wish for a helping song they are the only alternative, the only ones who can pick me up from the ground.
Yesterday they did it with "Winter".
So my topic-question is: Which Stones song picks you up from the ground?

Having lost both of my parents in the last few years, I sadly relate to your pain and wish you peace in the coming days. Waiting on a Friend lifts me up, every time.

I am so sorry for what you and your parents are going through. It’s wonderful that music can lift us up and away for a while. There is more than one Stones song that can do it (not sure if this translates, but there is an expression ‘an embarrassment of riches’ that describes it) but for me, it’s Around And Around that never fails. 12 x 5 came into the house when I was 4 years old. First side, first track. I remember dancing on the wood floor in my little sock feet and that feeling of joy… When they played it in Newark in 2012 I nearly wept. I think I’ll play it a few times today, and will think of you and your folks. Stay well, stay strong.

I lost my parents in the last few years. It's hard, and I'm thinking of you and the pain you're going through, caschimann.

Everything Is Turning To Gold is a song that gets me up every time. Something about the groove.

Sorry to hear what you are passing through Cashimann, been there with my mom not long ago.
As SomeTorontoGirl says, there's more than one song that does the trick to me too. Anyway, when I am feeling really down I use "Still Life"to collect the pieces. It was the first Stones record I bought in 1982 and I did not know much of the band at that time. It was love at first sight. So, putting that on the plate, it's kinda like make a 'tabula rasa' for me, turn off the brain, reset everything by moving, dancing, singing to that collection. For me it is like living again those feelings of joy, awe, enthusiasm and I get nourishment and energy that help me moving on.

Still was my first tour. thanks for the words.

Cashiman, may strength be with you, may your parents be blessed, may the light shine on them. I cannot think of many Stones songs which would help in the situation you describe - yet "Moonlight mile" comes to my mind. If you are into classical music, try compositions by Arvo Pärt - his music has the power to give consolation. Once again: Best wishes to you and your parents - the love between you will remain.

Hi caschimann, stay strong!

In tough times, for some reason, it's always the rockers that make me smile. Above all the Chuck covers and Neighbors

Probably something like Brown Sugar, or an early one like Route 66. These two examples are guaranteed to always raise a smile, no matter what. Down The Road Apiece was my late father’s favourite; that never fails.

all the early chuck berry covers have a real uplifting spirit and joy to them

it's like you can literally can feel the enthusiasm and love those young men long ago had for chuck berry and his music

makes me smile everytime

other stuff that jumps to mind

when the whip comes down
let it bleed
hey negrita
mixed emotions
waiting on a friend
shine a light
saint of me
the entire first album

and so many others make me happy when i hear them and help me forget my troubles for a moment

Very sorry for what you're going through caschimann.

For me it can be almost any Stones song, but I think Rocks Off and All Down The Line both do it for me in spades.

I lost my father last year. I’m so sorry that you may be losing both of your parents at the same time. It is a very hard and sad time for you and your family. For me, Ruby Tuesday always makes me feel happy.

To me the purpose of music is reflection, regardless the mood I'm in.
When I'm down, that's -Stones- Time waits for no one. The Lyrics, the music, the guitar solo, everything.

Before anything else, God bless your parents cashimann.

While my favourite ever song is (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, the album I have gone to more than any other for extreme feelings of joy, sadness, worry, euphoria has been Exile On Main Street. The album is almost like a physical form for me - like a best friend that I can summon at will to help me express all those emotions listed above. And the amazing thing is that it never fails. It is guaranteed fun and exuberance - something that can take you to the heavens and beyond.

And you know what - it isn't even my favourite Stones album. That's Let It Bleed.

But the sheer scope of emotions expressed within Exile is beyond compare. It's simply the greatest buddy album of all time.

Torn and Frayed, for where we belong. Think it's one of the most timeless Stones songs.

If You Can't Rock Me, to get kicked.

All my sympathy in these difficult times

If I may be allowed to OT here.

While one is still down, I would suggest the last song on the album CLOSER by Joy Division with the title, "Decades".
