Terribly saddened by the news that Dave Edmunds has suffered a "major cardiac arrest" and his condition appears grave. His wife Cici posted that information on Facebook.

Plus his amazing production work on "That'll Be The Day" and "Stardust" Soundtrack from the movies set around the birth of 1960's Rock'n Roll was amazing.

Best Wishes Dave

A couple of the British fish wrap tabloids have picked up the story. Neither saw fit to actually mention Dave's name in their headlines, so their clickbait links won't be posted here.

It was fun to hear him jamming with The Police as well. Good guy...

Can't speak to the veracity of the information, but this was posted in reply to Brian Setzer's Facebook post - "Just heard he is sitting up in bed and communicating, so hopefully the worst is over".

Somewhere on the Internet is a really funny interview with Nick Lowe talking about the night Keith Richards joined rockpile on stage at the bottom line in NYC right after being released from his Canadian drug bust and how Dave Edmunds and Keith got into it because Keith was so out of it he kept playing in the wrong key and they finally had to have him escorted from the stage -funny stuff

Nick Lowe says that since Dave Edmunds knew the Stones(1960's) Dave was not impressed by Keith's playing Chuck Berry rhythm guitar.
My thought on that subject is that Dave must not have listened to Get Yer Ya-Ya's out very well...
In that story, Dave appeared reluctant to be excited by Keith's appearance at the Bottomline club in NYC. Rock and roll guitar players rivalry I supposed.
Dave Edmunds is a great guitar player and I wish him well.

Sad to read.

When I was a young child, my father would spin Dave Edmunds’ ‘Girls Talk’ on the turntable. Even now, I’ll hear it and be reminded just how great a recording it is.

Keith's guest spot with Rockpile is not exactly his greatest moment.

Dave Edmunds is more derivative in his approach to play Chuck Berry's style because he can. Keith is not a good copyist, therefore he had to come up with his own style and we like it that way. Dave criticism of Keith is legit from the POV of a purist but Keith has created something, a sound, a way of playing rhythmn guitar that is outstanding. Both musicians are great.

Edmunds apparently was not breathing and had no pulse before he was resuscitated by med team. Put into induced coma, and has now "come around". Hopefully his heart problems can be solved. Anyway, it sounds like he was on deaths door and did a U turn. Best of luck Dave and hopefully a speedy recovery.

My point was that Keith mostly plays lead when he's playing Berry-esque.
