AI says it never happened. But I vaguely recall an interview with Keith wherein he told a story of learning some guitar technique off, of all people, Bobby Sherman, possibly on some tour bus somewhere in the early days. Such an unlikely pair, but tours back then we're more like traveling circuses, many with disparate acts.
I took a spin through the indices to "Life" and "According to The Rolling Stones," but I am not finding anything. The most unlikely of pairs! Anybody recall something like this?
P. 186 of Bill's excellent book, Rolling with the Stones. That's a start...Sherman was on the famous Shindig show where the Stones insisted on Howlin' Wolf's appearance.
Sad to hear. Bobby was a teen idol and actor that was a household name from 1968 through the mid 70's. Sounded like a solid good person.
Interesting musical note. He put out a Christmas LP around 1970. It is really an adventurous record for a not "highly regarded musician" There is even a gospel type song on this LP. A few sound like the burrito brothers. It is not a great LP but I give respect for the effort. I am sure it would have been easy to do a quick 9 Christmas classic and move on.
Condolences to his family and fans. Another hunk of our youth is gone.
