There is an auction going on right now for incredible footage of when Keith got elecrtocuted during "Last Time" in -64 or '65. The film is by one Michael peart and it is going for 5,250 $ right now. The site is called IORR.com; it is an auction place. Big spenders...When one sees this footage it is incredible. It is like something from Poltergeist. Sparks flying everywhere once Keith's guitar touches the live mike. Jagger rushes over and tries to pick Keith up and then...I can't see what happens then. Damn! Well ..we know that Keith made it and is still bothering us today.. LOL.

When Keith got zapped with that electricity most of it remained in him and has been powering him ever since, like a nuclear reactor. There can be no other legitimate reason as to why he survived all these years.

I think "electrocution" means death. So, Keith got shocked but not electrocuted.

technically "electrocute" means "injure or kill with electricity",
but i can understand your being distressed by the thread title.

Sorry guys, I was asleep. Now it seems like one can not view the footage anymore. Damn. But there are now a bunch of sequenced photos (6 or 7) where you can still see the shower of sparks and Keith going down.

the strings on his guitar completed a circuit and and the power went thru his guitar and got him. I remeber reading that the souls on his hush puppies grounded him and saved his life. As I have posted here bfore, i can't imagine Keith as a hush puppy wearer, but maybe they were "cool" back then!

Improper grounding of the mike stand would have caused Keith to get shocked. Current will seek the path of least reisitance to earth ground and since the mike was ungrounded when Keith's guitar touched it, the potentional from the mike went straight through the human riff to earth ground. It hurts, let me tell you and knocks you senseless if it doesn't kill you first. He was lucky!

and that part no one seems to remember distinctly - some people say they went back on, some say they didn't, some say they just don't remember.
everyone present including the whole audience was clearly mighty freaked; and the power in the place blew out, which must've magnified the panic considerably.

it may be apocryphal, but i've always liked the version where Keith's first words on coming round were: "did i finish the show?"

... punched in the face hard enough to send you flying all the way to the back of the stage, knock you out cold and/or nearly kill you, you mean?

I was shocked badly on stage once - it hurt like the dickens and was scary ... and my incident was NOTHING like what we see here. I really feel bad for Keef and am just happy that it occurred so long ago.

And remember, Mick got thrown all around the stage by an electrical shock, as did Bill W. on a different night, right?

Back then, the sound systems were often virtually ad hoc. That dude from Stone The Crows was in fact killed on stage, and Curtis Mayfield never fully recovered from his electrocution, true? The list goes on and on. Poor Keef.
