We have an artist called Håkan Hellström who every second year do three concerts. Every gig draws 73,000 people so all in all about 220,000 in total. All done in a week. Tickets are between 65 and 110 Euro.
You do the maths. The guy is 51 years old but the audience is everything between 8 and 51. The music? Indiepop with Swedish lyrics. Another thing is that the pop journalists thinks he's Jesus or something so he always gets 5/5 reviews. Especially from Markus Larsson (remember him?). So, what's the conclusion of this? Nothing I guess, except the fact that som lucky guys can work two weeks every second year and still cash in big...

I wonder what it is with some artists that they manage to maintain such draw for such a long time. Is it just the quality of the music and performance?

Luck maybe? I guess I'm to old to understand the phenomena. I think he and Kent were the big winners from the indie era. At least economically.

Most people here wouldn't understand what we are talking about anyway since neither of these artists made it abroad (maybe Kent to a certain degree).

Those kind of things also happen here in Finland. The names from the past - especially The 90s seem to be the main attraction in nostalgia business nowadays - make come backs for a couple of stadium shows or something big like that for good money.

Kent used to be pretty popular here in Finland. I had a girl friend back then who liked them a lot. That's why I - a romantic fool - know more about them than I should...

In 1994 The Rolling Stones paid $300 thousand for 3 days rental of the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.

32k paid to see them, of approximately 65k available. The Stones made just over a million dollars so it paid off, barely.

It was a bust.

No surprise they didn't return to New Orleans until 2019 on the HONK tour or whatever, NO FILTER, a silly name for a predictable set list, eh?

Very few performing artists may fill up a stadium year after year. The Norwegian pop group a-ha is holding the record crowd of 198,000 fans at Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro Brazil in 19981, even listed in the Guinnes book of records. They may do sold out stadium shows in Norway any time. Critical mass. Nostalgia. The fans know all the songs of these bands, so they are a sure sell out whenever they tour. Just like The Stones.

We are having a lot of acts here who did big business in their initial post Covid tour only to come back to seas of empty seats and discounts.

The famous Feyenoord "Kuip Stadium" in Rotterdam is not allowed to facilitate big concerts anymore because of "noise pollution". Now that is sad after all those years. Nothing else matters regarding this topic.

I'm almost certain he hasn't anything more planned for this year. This seems to be his modus operandi - a handful of sell out stadium gigs every second year.
Leaves him plenty of room to do other things while the money keep coming in. I see that you got your å and ö right. Not bad!

Billy Joel did that with his Madison Square Garden run once a month. Helicopter from Hamptons to NYC, play a gig, go home with a million bucks rinse repeat. He did like 150 of those shows. Throw in assorted other shows and he is making $25 mil a year. Not a bad job.
