But if you wonder what Keith is doing, ask keef riffhard,he had all sorts of theories about his best friend Keith.
He knows that Keith wont play with Stones anymore,he knows everything.
He is a genius,or a fortune teller

The people I know at UME are on vacations, nothing new has leaked other than the album is in production with a tentative release date in May.

The greatest hits thing has been up in the air for over a year now, I don't have any more information than that.

Thanks for the info.

Greatest hits…another one? Do we need it how bout a concert from 2024 all songs from same city?

Greatest hits…another one? Do we need it

Newbies and casual listeners, who wanna own a physical copy - especially on Vinyl. Not everyone is interested in streaming. A new Greatest Hits compilation would make sense after their 2026 studio album.

For their 2026 studio album, there could imo be another solution - just release it in celebration of Charlie's 85th birthday.

Since 2027 will mark the 65th anniversary of the Rolling Stones, they could do some live shows then. And Universal Music could bring special releases for the anniversary, like a new Vinyl box, Singles box, Rarities or Greatest Hits compilation, etc - all from 1971-2026.

A new greatest hits comp would be the exact same greatest hits comp that was released in (fill in the year)...what would change...or be different than all the others? As far as 'newbies'--LOL...yea in 2026 the Stones are gonna have a bunch of teens buying vinyl or CD copies of their grandfather's favorite band. Just like I DIDN'T with Tommy Dorsey and Paul Whiteman. The market for Stones GH releases is well-saturated; if you want one you can easily find one. But I fully expect a new one to materialize in the near future anyway and it probably won't even chart.

At least it could contain new tracks from their 2023 and 2026 studio albums.

Weren't Mozart, Beethoven & Co. great-grandfather's favourite composers too? Some Stones-tracks could stand the test of the times.

It could be HONK updated.

It could be completely different... no Brown Sugar, maybe 4 Keith songs. A few tracks left off in favor of newer/new.

Maybe UME makes all but the 1970s comps go away so there is no JUMP BACK, no FORTY LICKS, no... 2012 and no HONK: particular versions or songs are only available with this...

It's possible. No UK mix of Miss You except on.

Not UK mix of Plundered except on.

Not this and that edit except on.

Entirely possible. Streaming as well as physical. UME can determine that: given their reason to license out their rental of Promotone as they see fit since THAT is what they've paid for.

Let's put ABC out of print and out of "print" and have only this.

They could do that - unless Promotone says otherwise.

Given their operation "recently" there shouldn't be any problem with UME doing what they want.

Justin Sosa’s comments were good but he really didn’t mention the editing until the end I have pretty much written off this film for shortened songs and crappy sound. I remember blowing off school to see this opening day. It will always suck compared to Hampton. To me the 4k disc sounds better than the blue ray. The pic I thought looked great. The edits as everyone knows are bad. JJ flash has 3/4 of the song removed, start me up etc. I thought the sound was improved on the 4k like I could pick up more of Keith’s riffing in Hang Fire and Ronnie’s lead on All Down the Line was a little louder. Bass and drums sounded good throughout. I’m a fanatic so I’m glad I got it and enjoyed it for what it’s worth.

If the reports of the new album for April/May are true, I reckon it's not unfeasible that there might be another comp out for Christmas. Basically Honk (- a couple of tracks) + Living In A Ghost Town, Sweet Sounds Of Heaven, Angry, Mess It Up and maybe Whole Wide World. With any luck they will stick Zydeco Sont Pas Sales on too. It would be good to have that on CD/on an actual Stones album.

They should simply release the new album in 2026 without live shows (similar 40+ years ago with UC/DW). Then in 2027, for the 65th RS anniversary, do some live shows incl. tracks from their 2023/2026 albums. And Universal Music could do some new/special releases for the anniversary.

If they're thinking May for the new album, we could expect a new single at some point in March.

New single in March would mean official album announcement in March .... but the weather may not be the best in March for such an event. Maybe album announcement end of April and release end of May or early June (Charlie's birthday). Or release it like in 2023.

the 2023 LP contained some greatest hits hits? LOL yea OK. And the '2026' LP isn't even out yet and you already have tracks from it on a GH comp coming out the same year.....What???

What???

Your above posted question was: "A new greatest hits comp would be the exact same greatest hits comp that was released in (fill in the year)...what would change...or be different than all the others?".

And my reply was that the difference would be new tracks from their 2023/2026 albums. I did not write that their 2023 LP contained some greatest hits. On the other hand, some 2023 tracks might have the potential for that (maybe some 2026 tracks as well).

Some say / assume that the 2026 RS studio album will be even better than Hackney Diamonds. A new compilation would make sense after their 2026 album.

In regard to a new hits compilation, it would be right for Angry to be included.

Alike with previous hits comps lesser tracks ie not singles could be included.

I thought Get Close and Driving Me Too Hard were obvious other singles, more so the latter for HACKNEY.

UMe's team of 18 months of promotion didn't last beyond the release date of the LP.

A farce. Their record distribution - Interscope Records...

Woo hoo.

Why is everyone here so interested in a possible compilation album? Just take Forty Licks and Hackney Diamonds and you got your 2026 compilation...

I don't think anyone is particularly interested - merely speculating on the forthcoming schedule of events.

Because it was mentioned here - [iorr.org] . Then the topic took on a life of its own.

How long does the current deal with Universal actually last? Was there an end date to it, or was it for a certain number of albums?

With all those 'deluxe' releases, the number of albums may well have been reached by now.

If you'd ask me, the next compilation album, should be a definitve one.

None of that, just open end. Their 2018 agreement: [www.UniversalMusic.com] , [Variety.com] .

Grrr! was pretty definitive. I think. Your opinion may vary. As in, who’s to say what definitive is?

I’ve had enough compilations…

Who even buys compilations anymore? Maybe a nice Christmas present for grandpa, a compilation CD of the Stones. But young people usually stream so that doesn't make much sense, all those old hits are easy to find. The playlist of "Honk" was also continuously adjusted, new songs were added.

Newbies, casual listeners and people not interested in streaming. A compilation makes sense as an overview and entry point. But it's nothing for hardcore fans who already own everything.

Ghost Town was added as the first song to the digital album some years ago and Bitch and Beast of Burden are missing on the digital release but I think that's since the beginning. Was anything else changed?

Yep, that's what I'm aware of as well - [iorr.org] . It were the live versions of 'Beast of Burden' (with Ed Sheeran) and 'Bitch' (with Dave Grohl) which were later removed from the digital release of HONK (no 'playlist').
