SOS, except for : "In 1974 he was “on my death bed” in Los Angeles – “I was really ill” – and he got a call from Mick asking if he wanted to join the band. “And I thought to myself, I thought you’d never ask.”"
Wait, hasn't his story for decades been that Mick asked Ronnie to join after being told by Taylor that he was leaving ?! Like Bill used to say, "never let truth get in the way of a good story" ;-)
Well, didn't they, according to same source, ask him to replace Brian Jones... Like - you know, in the actual reality, did they even knew that the bass player of Jeff Beck Group play guitar - "Yeah, let's replace Brian with a bass player. Right, Bill?"...
- Doxa
He played guitar in the JBG first + in the Birds, but I don't wanna ruin a good story

I think it's an "in joke" within the band to spin a story in interviews to see what they can get away with!
And they have a good laugh about it later.

Anyone have any updates on The Stones recording in London? Any sightings? This thread went cold fast. During the recording of HD in LA 2022 there was plenty of intel flying around.

The Stones have been recording in Metropolis for a month now, first Mick with Andrew Watt starting April 22/23, Keith a week later, and the rest joined between the 4th and 8th of this month.
Andrew has barely posted on his Instagram for a month, so he must be working very hard on the album since he knows it's difficult to get everyone together at the same time and he has to make the most of his time.
And if there are no press photos, it's logical. Unfortunately, the Stones recording in the studio won't be news to anyone in 2025. There's no press guard at the studio like with Taylor Swift does every time she records in New York or Los Angeles.

Wonderful news...I didn't realize it had been that long already. Without inside info, do you think that if they actually finished recording let's say in the next couple of weeks, you could have a Fall release, or is that pushing it?

I wonder what the sales projection will be? With Hackney Diamonds being their first album of originals in years, they pushed the boat out, with the Hackney Empire press conference, etc. I wonder whether this forthcoming release will get the same sort of exposure, considering its relatively soon after HD?

It was exciting, yes. Hopefully they’ll really push this release, too.

Agreed! I know he’s evidently a genuine fan, but I find his cringy. His face looks like it’s made out of plastic.

Late fall yes, last week of November or early December is the best case scenario from a marketing or sales point of view, but if they want to release the album just in time for a posible European tour around this time but in 2026, that's another option too.
The good thing about this is that a new album will be released in the next 12 months maximun, that's someting great to look foward.

Talking of cringy, if this new album is what we are led to believe, an album of Hackney Diamonds leftovers, that takes cringe to a whole new level.
What a way to end such an incredible career of creative genius together.

it's not even out yet and mick has stated that those leftovers are pretty different from what's on hackney diamonds
that could be a good or a bad thing depending on how you look at it

Sure Keith will show up and play, put his name to it and do the promotional talk show and interview, but I'm not expecting a Glimmer Twin collaboration of new material created in the studio with the boys putting in equal measures.
I'm expecting another large slice of Mick and Andrew's stuff and hopefully they'll throw Keith another bone.
