I think this should be a Trilogy.

2023 - Hackney Diamonds
2025 - new album
2027 - final album

If you took out speculation, opinion, vitriol, and pure bullshit from this thread there would be like 3 posts about the Stones in the studio this year.

Yeah if you are looking for that a forum is not the right place, and it's better to just refresh rollingstones.com every time.

We are all excited. At least I am.

Well last time we had hundreds of pages on the topic of a new album spanning years and years with nothing to show for all the rumours.
This time we know they have material and a producer that's motivated and don't come cheap working on it as we speak.
So it's different and exciting because the album on it's way is actually a reality this time.

I have this feeling it's going to be better than HD.

Well,I hope so. Mick said they wanted to deliver a great (not merely good) album after ABB but I can only listen to four tracks on HD.

Shame. It's a fantastic album.

I really love HD, but I did miss a more bluesy, experimental track. A non-standard verse-chorus-verse-chorus kind of song like CYHMK, SFTD, Midnight Rambler, but more recently Laugh, I nearly died, Might as well get juiced or Thru and Thru

Don't get me wrong, HD has potential and although Keith is involved with the best tracks it basically serves Mick.

Well for such a cool guy that wasn't cool, uncalled for and I'm calling BS on the other 8 tracks.

Driven by these exciting news about a new album coming soon, I went back to HD last night after a long time (and after Rolling Stone Blues I was in the mood to unshelve Blue & Lonesome too).

I have to say that it remains exactly where I placed it in my review when I first listened to it: a cohesive album, with a couple of positive highlights (SSOH, GC), several good "modern sounding" (whatever that might mean) tracks (Angry, WWW, DMTH, DOY) and a small series of songs that are, frankly, forgettable.

Looking forward the next chapter, with no illusion, just grateful to be at this stage 40 years after my first "new" rolling stones record

The only one I never got on with is Mess it Up. All the others I love, I had it on earlier this week while cooking, it's a good record for chopping, slicing, peeling and searing, with smoking breaks and wine on the side.
The tracks are so well crafted for the Stones, lovely bits from Keith and Ronnie especially. Can't wait for the new one, however it pans out.
Also, the Zydoco track is fecking brilliant, which bodes well...

Yeps, really looking forward the Clifton Chenier's cover! The glimpse I heard was really promising. The whole project is.

As for Mess it up, I feel the same, though live seems it worked fine and funny. But on record I still skip it, and it is the only one I skip

Mess It Up wasn’t one of my favorite Hackney Diamonds tracks, but I really did like it live in Atlanta. Glad it replaced Miss You in the set that night.

Miss you was never replaced by Mess it Up. They had Miss you and Midnight Rambler in rotation. One of those songs was played every night in the same spot.

No shit. That’s what I meant. That’s why I said “that night,” and not “permanently,” or “for the tour.” Did they ever play Miss You and Mess it Up the same night? It was either MIU and Rambler or MY and WWW. MIU and WWW were in rotation too. Know what I’m saying? Maybe I could’ve said it more eloquently.

Your standards are highly questionable: they recorded a fantastic album and you can only listen to four songs.

Forget their age, forget how long it was: it's a fantastic album regardless.

You can't hear that.

Encouraging advice GLS, but do we really need to tell people which tracks they should enjoy, there's room for other opinions, it's subjective, i don't tell a vegetarian they should eat meat. winking smiley

Remember you love HD because you love Jagger solo albums, sadly it's not for everyone, you can understand that can't you??

I hope the sound of any new album is not quite so sharp, brittle and bright as Hackney. I love the songs on HD, bar Mess it Up, never got this one, but to me it’s hard to listen to straight thru. It’s just a bit “crisp”. I’d like the new record to be a bit darker and denser.

The common digital versions of HD are horrendously compressed. The vinyl is decent and from what I understand the Atmos mix is very dynamic. I really wish they would show respect to those of us who still buy physical media by providing a dynamic mastering. Send out a compressed mix to Spotify, etc. if you want to, but why not let those of us who are supporting them most financially have a better experience?

Man it is 2025 and The Stones are still knocking out great songs and a great album !! And some quality gigs in between. Its amazing. Its not the 1960s or 1970s, but I'm just grateful they are still rolling in their 80s. I cannot wait until the next album !!!!!!!!! IORR !!!!!!

If those are petitions to Andrew Watt I sign them both: give us a more dynamic sound (when I play HD is vinyl or Atmos, cd's unbearable)
