The Rolling Stones studio works 2025 - new album due
Posted by: bv ()
Date: May 14, 2025 11:10

The Rolling Stones have been said to be in studio this year, working on songs for a new album, following their highly successful 2023 album "Hackney Diamonds".

JUNE 11, 2025 UPDATE:

Following 5-6 weeks of studio works at London’s Metropolis Studios during late April, all of May, and into June, they have laid down 13 songs, and are in discussions over a release date for their new studio album.

So we know Mick and Andrew are in a studio in London in the last weeks. Do we know something from Keith, Ronnie and Steve?

In the thread that disappeared (thread #2) our source said «Mick, Keith, Andrew and now Ronnie».

Steve wasn't mentioned. He was mentioned, however, when the news about the recording was published initially.

From the original 2025 thread, Mick in the studio singing something like "Ride with my baby"

The thread that "disappered" is this one, still available for reading purposes:

What’s next for The Rolling Stones in 2025?

The above thread is closed, because it was abused for political statements, repeatedly, due to the general title of the thread.

If someone want to post comments from that thread related to 2025 studio works please do so, but mind you several youtube links in that thread were 3-5 year old.

I meant the second thread that 2120Joe started, which seemed to have vanished.

However, here's what Joseph reported initially:

May 6, 2025. So hoping it’s true what I was just told by someone who knows:
The Rolling Stones are recording now at a London studio. Mick and Andrew arrived first. Keith last Wednesday and Ronnie, Steve expected in a few days.

New album and tour. Very optimistic to think both could be ready for Christmas but neither possibility eliminated.

I have always found any info from @georgelicks to be completely credible. He posted that Universal is expecting to release a new Stones album in late November or early December.

They're sticking to the new album with HD leftovers plus new... great.

Sales are 90% gone. The record label may expect old skool results - that ain't gonna happen. Streaming... it's payless except for the record label.

It's all about exposure and it's just for a moment.

Unless they come up with another Start Me Up it doesn't matter in that regard, it's just simply doing something.

At this point if they don't do something that grabs people, a Miss You or Start Me Up kind of song, it doesn't matter - just like since 1983 onward.

The tide turned big time on the Stones in 1983 and they never really caught up. They were there but essentially forgotten. Top 5 album in the UK and US... but just as with BLACK AND BLUE, no one remembers it.

Angry was the best single since Mixed Emotions - or prior. That's a long time, and very few albums in between. Except for Mick, the Stones aren't concerned with charting songs - ok, Keith isn't.

The Rolling Stones entered the soundscape when the single was still the deal and the album came a little later... and now it's...? They're on the other side of what's become, so big streaming single and or album for 3 weeks... way different.

It that essence it's time for them to stop. Because they haven't done anything worth a damn as far as a hit single. And they most likely won't.

"Here's The Rolling Stones new single"... and two weeks later it's gone. That album comes out and two weeks later it's gone.

They tour and thousands of people want to see them. More people go to see the live than streams.

Duhhhhh.

Spotify sucks, x amount of fans buy the CD and vinyl and... that's it. Like a bird with eggs and then the babies leave the nest:

GONE.

I love it. It's fantastic. The way things are doesn't work in their favor but whatever, they've kind of become an indie band again, recording and releasing whatever and it doesn't do much chart wise but fans that love it love it.

" Wood is currently working with Rod Stewart on a documentary about the Faces, and a new album by the group. And later this year he will be back working with Jagger and Richards, planning the next Rolling Stones album. It will be their 32nd studio album (not to mention the 39 live albums, 28 compilation albums and 51 video albums)."

SOS, except for : "In 1974 he was “on my death bed” in Los Angeles – “I was really ill” – and he got a call from Mick asking if he wanted to join the band. “And I thought to myself, I thought you’d never ask.”"

Wait, hasn't his story for decades been that Mick asked Ronnie to join after being told by Taylor that he was leaving ?! Like Bill used to say, "never let truth get in the way of a good story" ;-)

If true then I guess the correct timeline was:

early December 1974: on Robert Stigwood's party for Eric Clapton in London - MT says he wants to leave, MJ asks RW if he would step in if desperately needed

after US Faces tour, mid- to late March 1975: RW gets the call if he could come over to Munich

Well, didn't they, according to same source, ask him to replace Brian Jones... Like - you know, in the actual reality, did they even knew that the bass player of Jeff Beck Group play guitar - "Yeah, let's replace Brian with a bass player. Right, Bill?"...

Wood is currently working with Rod Stewart on a documentary about the Faces, and a new album by the group. And later this year he will be back working with Jagger and Richards, planning the next Rolling Stones album. It will be their 32nd studio album (not to mention the 39 live albums, 28 compilation albums and 51 video albums).

Woah. You said "not to mention" and then you did.

What's up with that!!!????

In adult life, I've always found people feeling the need to teach other people a bit suspicious, but as long as it's not political correctness it's probably a rather harmless hobby so if necessary for you, go for it.
