Of The Alarm. One of the very, very good people in music. After a long battle with one blood cancer after another, for decades. Did huge amounts of work raising money and awareness and helping build cancer treatment wards from Wales to Tibet and Africa. Helped found a charity, "Love/Hope/Strength Foundation" to help find potential bone marrow donors to help bring a cure to those who could not find a match. I was lucky/honored to volunteer with them for a while.

The Alarm (plus Mike's solo and side collaborations thru the years) maybe never achieve the 'superstar rock musician' level of fame many aim for. Seeing him perform, live, the man was pure passion and joy. But his tireless efforts, right to the end, of helping give hope to those with cancer made him a superstar human.

This was so sad. The Alarm was a big part of my youth and the first 4-5 albums are really really great.

Fine words indeed which I can only echo....a great songwriter, frontman and performer. The Alarm have always been such an inspiring live band right from their early days in the 80s and the last time I saw them in August 2023, mike was still on great form in spite of all he was enduring at that time. A big loss. RIP Mike

What he did... he worked with Billy Duffy (The Cult) for ColourSound as well (yes I know it's hardly anything).

Saw them open for Dylan many many years ago, I was very impressed.

I got to see them twice ... once w/ during the Strength album (I believe mid/late 80s) and again in the 2000s, opening for the Psychedelic Furs. The dude was intense, put on a great show!

I don’t know much about his band, but he did an excellent turn as a guest DJ on Tom Petty radio. I really enjoyed hearing his insights on TP’s music.

I'm a Big Country fan and always thought The Alarm should tour with them. Unfortunately I never saw either band live. Anyone know, was there ever a Big Country/The Alarm bill?

I got to see them first as the opening act for U2 at the end of the War Tour 1983…They then played a few months later in a club show in Boston which was fantastic!!!! A few years later I finally got to see Bob Dylan for the first time and The Alarm was the opening act in 1988………What a Brave and courageous man….God Speed Mike.Peace.M

I believe there was. There was also a tour or 2 where Mike filled in as vocalist for Big Country in recent years.
