The Very Best Of Mick Jagger on Vinyl
Posted by: bart-man ()

It looks like The Very Best of Mick Jagger will be released on Vinyl on April 25th. But it's not very wide spread. I saw a topic on Facebook but no promotional content on social media so far. Does anybody knows more?

Available for pre-order in NZ now too - [www.jbhifi.co.nz]

It looks like its only 16 tracks, and not the 17 as per the CD (No - Evening Gown)

UPDATE - JB have updated their site to say 17 tracks :-)

Cheers

The description says 17, hope they dont delete any song.

Originally released on CD and digitally in 2007, this 17-track compilation of Mick Jagger’s solo career is now released for the first time on vinyl.
Alongside hits such as “Dancing In The Street” the album also features three tracks previously unreleased on vinyl: “Too Many Cooks” (produced by John Lennon), “Checking Up On My Baby” (featuring The Red Devils) and “Charmed Life” (produced by Rick Rubin).
The 2LP set is released on standard weight black vinyl, and packaged in a gatefold sleeve mirroring the original 2007 artwork.

I think I've thrown this out before but I wonder what breakeven is on a release like this?

It won't be huge sales...I guess the label just releases a crap load of material from legacy artists and the small batches they do sell in amount to a reasonable business?

I can't imagine Mick pushing for this release on vinyl.

Enough people will buy it per price point to warrant the small/limited release.

It's not that it's a huge profit, it's 'it can be done'. Retailers pay A, sell for B... and eventually C-K if it doesn't sell enough.

No one is losing money.

They've just got to DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IAAAGGGHHHTTTTT.

UMG is stupid - release a 12" of... and the B-side being... they're so stupid about the big picture!

it's a bloody shame this doesn't contain the more recent stuff
and some other singles are also missing
but I love the charmed life, too many cooks and old habits

Yeah, good suggestion. Maybe Nothing But The Wheel with Peter Wolf, too?

Some people probably scoff at this compilation because it includes ‘Let’s Work.’ I scoff at it because it includes 8 other songs that are even worse.

Damn, most of these songs are as skinny as Mick.

go hard or go home
is one that is missing
what's missing most of the older ones is
state of shock
in fact you could compile a 2lp without album tracks

Not enough Primitive Cool. And I mean that!

How can tracks that no one had ever heard be considered the "very best"? So great that I chose not to release them for decades!

Party Doll certainly. Throwaway for sure. Say You Will definitely ahead of Let's Work.

And BTW, they can be "The Very Best of" anyone, and still not necessarily be good. But what I will say is there are definitely 4 sides of Mick vinyl that would be awesome, just not necessarily all the tracks they have on this album. Joy, Don't Call Me Up, Let's Work could easily be replaced. The rest are mostly excellent, some very good.
