OT: Any My Morning Jacket fans?

Maybe has been brought up before. I’ve been a fan of Louisville’s MMJ for several years - terrific band, seen them a few times. They have a new album, called IS. Gave it a listen (my library offers the Hoopla app which has it) - it’s ’OK’. Has its moments, but maybe a little too bright and sunny? Nothing over 5 minutes, which is telling - no lengthy space jams, which they do so well. But I’m sure live, they will still kick up some serious dust (they will be touring the US over the months ahead). Still Debating if I’ll go see them again when they hit Boston in the fall - but led by the super talented Jim James, they are a force to be reckoned with. I like their album ‘Z’ the best. ‘It Still Moves’ is also excellent. Betting some of you Stones folks are also fans?

Strange that this got brought up on the same morning I woke up thinking "I haven't heard Highly Suspicious in several years and I should". Strange decent band.

Luv the Jacket!
First time I saw them was 2011 at Mountain Jam in the rain and many times after that.
They ROCK live.
Unfortunately the new album is rather "pedestrian" in my opinion.
Hopefully they will jam it out live.

Fantastic live. My favorite albums are Z and Evil Urges. They’ve been hit or miss for me on record since those albums.

Saw them in the crowd at a Nashville Roger Waters show a handful of years ago. Drummer was clearly tripping. He was deeply locked into the stage show and effects.

Side note: They had a good relationship with Pearl Jam, but they don’t seem to be as close anymore. Don’t play together. Don’t play the same festivals. PJ didn’t mention MMJ at Burbon and Beyond in Kentucky (MMJ’s home state) a couple of years ago. Maybe I’m seeing something that’s not there, like MMJ’s drummer at Roger Waters.

They have an upcoming 5 night run in their hometown of Louisville where they promise no song repeats across all 5 nights. What we wouldn’t give to see a certain band do something like that, eh? Of course it would never happen, but goes to show, something like that is possible.

I liked what they did up to Z, and I loved Jim James’ first solo record. I saw MMJ at a tiny venue in Portland, Maine (The Space) about 22 (?) years ago and it was a really great show, and then I saw that first Jim James solo tour in Portland as well. That show was also great. Since then, their material has not grabbed me, but I also haven’t given much of it a second listen.
