Hope a new album is coming, but I doubt they’ll call it Diamond Dust unless they’re specifically marketing HD outtakes as the concept which I think Jagger would not like. It’s like admitting “ our artistic well is dry” which I don’t believe is the case

Fortunately they've never repeated anything, although Fifty Licks (Keith had that title on his shoes!) or even Sixty Licks would've been appropriate in doing so.

ER had some SG leftovers on it. So did TY. They didn't call those Some More Girls and Even More Girls. Had they finished everything it could've been Most Girls and All The Girls.

Then get into the ER leftovers...

It's also probably accurate to say they won't call it The Last Time since they refuse to acknowledge or announce when they'll stop/retire.

The title Hackney Diamonds isn't bad but the album cover... their fifth "animated" LP cover, or whatever you want to call it, and fourth of the last 6 albums (including B&L, which, eh, does the logo count as animated? If so then 5 of their last 6).

"Automated" would be closer to the truth, and I agree a lot of them sucked. HD's lack of anything in the gatefold is a horrible waste. Good thing the album was good.

It's also probably accurate to say they won't call it The Last Time since they refuse to acknowledge or announce when they'll stop/retire.

Given their track record, most likely, a live album from the Hackney Diamonds tour will be next.

Any new songss that they still have left unreleased from those sessions might see a release as bonus tracks on either that or a new compilation.

Also: I Want You To Paint This! Ronnie's coloring book for pre-schoolers ;-) No, just kidding.

I can only hop that the next album from Steve's group The Verbs finally gets a release. It's been recorded on 2019, I think, and has still not been released.

That picture posted was a ShowCo touring truck at the rehearsal studio. Probably AC/DC who rehearsed there for Power Trip or some other band. Meant to go by to check it out.

Given their track record, most likely, a live album from the Hackney Diamonds tour will be next.

Their last live album fresh from a tour was HAVANA MOON in 2016.

Prior to that was the 2015 STICKY FINGERS LIVE, which was the first show of the ZIP CODE tour.

Never before had the Stones released two live albums in less than 2 years apart from a tour.

Prior to that was, well, same thing with two different names, HYDE PARK being the first one, from the 2013 50 & COUNTING tour.

Prior to that is LIVE LICKS in 2004.

Before that there's 1998, 1991, 1982, 1977 and 1970.

LIVE LICKS was their 6th live album!!! and their last active live album from a tour until 2013.

That's 9 live albums from tours starting in 1970. It's been 8 years and 4 months since the last one.

Perhaps because of the never announced 2025 tour being "cancelled" they may be inclined to release a live album from 2024.

At this point, another live album with Start Me Up, It's Only Rock'N'Roll, Let's Spend The Night Together, You Can't Always Get What You Want, Happy, Sympathy For The Devil, Honky Tonk Women, Miss You, Gimme Shelter, Paint It Black, Jumpin' Jack Flash and Satisfaction would be absolutely pointless.

Even with Angry, Mess It Up, Tell Me Straight, WWW, Bite My Head Off and SSOHeaven to choose from plus there were other songs performed, of which perhaps only a few would be worth bothering with, like Monkey Man, Sweet Virginia and Shattered - who would be interested!!??

How much fixing would be required? Mick was flat for almost every performance of Angry. The RACKET show got heavily fixed, which is really weird.

It might get streamed a bit for a week. A majority of those songs are available all over streaming already from various decades.

I'm leaning on no live album.

And some 2017-18 live tracks on the deluxe edition of HONK in 2019.

Ehhh it's not a live album in the sense of a live album from a tour like LOVE YOU LIVE, STILL LIFE etc. And all those stupid duets ruin it.

agreed

i combined the non duet tracks with the audio from the bonus tracks of the japanae bluray of ole! and it's not to bad as a live album once i fixed the transitions

thanks

i remember the debate over the picture of the truck and it never really got resolved one way or another and since that seems to be the basis for the idea that there recording there it seems kinda important to figure that out

yes lots of smoke but where's the fire

it seems reasonable that they get back in the studio and finish off the album but as of yet i haven't seen any hard evidence that they are

for a lot of the sessions for hackney we got picture from them in the studio or pictures of them all together in the same place

so far we just have matt's kinda vague post, mick and andrew watt at the oscars and a picture of a truck outside a studio that others have pointed out may not be the truck they regularly use but a different truck

i want to believe but i need more evidence

well if we're talking about the post 2012 era

plus the 6 hackney tracks there's also the blue and lonesome tracks they did live (3 or 4?) and ghost town and the great version of 19th nervious break down they did with jordan, out of time, troubles a comin' that they did to promote the deluxe tattoo you, the duet with irma thomas of time is on my side, the acoustic tracks from 2019, lots of one off performances of stuff like, mercy mercy, ain't to proud to beg, just my imagination (plus a lot more but i'm drawing a blank)

it's been a long time since they've had a proper live album of 10 to 12 tracks sourced from multiple shows

yes a lot of these live tracks are pretty rough but personally i don't mind if they go in the studio to fix them up a bit and it's what they've always done for this kinda live album anyways

it would also be less work then a new studio album and of course it ain't gonna make them much money or sell much but do any of these vault releases ever sell well and that doesn't stop them from releasing them

it all comes down to do they (mick) wanna do it

i think your right that it's unlikley but i wouldn't mind it if they did

though i would prefer a new studio over a live album

I was only considering the 2024 HD tour but in regard to what you mentioned perhaps that would be more interesting than the 1965-1981 usual songs going back to the 2021 NO FILTER and SIXTY tours - basically the same set lists so not much to choose from between the 3 tours .

Irma Thomas would have to agree for that recording to be released, of course, but wouldn't THAT be SWEET!!!??? And fortunately the only duet I think.

Scrolling through those two, the "other" songs, as you pointed out, plus:

Dead Flowers, Under My Thumb, Let It Bleed, Angie, Rocks Off, Monkey Man, Fool To Cry, Sad Sad Sad, Beast Of Burden, Shattered, She's A Rainbow, Ruby Tuesday, Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo, Far Away Eyes, I Wanna Be Your Man... some others that don't need to be mentioned.

Throw in however many new songs from 2024, if they leaned towards the more obscure tracks that haven't been released, like Fool To Cry, I Wanna Be Your Man, ehhhhh, nothing else really.

The last multiple show (only 4) live album was LIVE LICKS. NS had 6 shows.

Still attempting to figure out the edited end of LSTNT from STILL LIFE since all but the absolute end is from the HAMPTON PPV - and the HAMPTON album has the true ending! They recorded the next night so it could be from there.

Well some might say that conclusion is a little narrow minded since they released at least 12 live albmus in the past 8 years:
- 2024 Shepherd's Bush
- 2024 Live at Racket
- 2024 Live at the Wiltern
- 2023 Grrr Live!
- 2022 Licked Live in NYC
- 2022 Mocambo
- 2021 Copacabana
- 2020 Atlantic City
- 2019 Buenos Aires
- 2019 Bremen
- 2018 Miami
- 2018 San Jose

They might not fit the category "fresh from a tour" - but I feel we can all be very lucky to have them publish so much live stuff recently.

I would love a live release - maybe No Filter / Sixty / Hackney. But I might rather have a tour supporting a new album.

oh i misunderstood you if we're talking about a live album from the 2024 tour that i'd love too

but a real 10-12 track live album of tracks from the last 12-13 years is far more interesting a prospect to me

and we have to consider the possibilities of a super deluxe japanese bonus disc of the rest of the tracks we've listed that they don't use on the album

you know the more i think of this the more i like the idea

plus since honk isn't really a live album they might as well use a few of the better tracks off that too (dancing with mr. d, shine a light)

also i thought of some more harlem shufle from new jersey in 2019, the reworked version of factory girl from glastonbury (glastonbury girl) , 2000 light years from the same show, keith with litte t&a, slipping away, connection and some of the live tracks with mick taylor sway, cyhmk, silver train, bizarrely streets of love and slipping away

and though it maybe a bit of a stretch it be nice to have mother's little helper from the 2022 madrid rehearsals too

there's just so much material to choose from from the last decade or so

It's narrow minded on purpose strictly regarding the culture of a live album directly from a tour, which the Stones still have a bit of a window to access hype wise from last year's tour approaching one year old, and the "fresh" live albums get more promotion. The vault etc releases are mostly great nuances, great for some, nothing for others, but generally ignored by any casual music fans with an extreme limit on how many fans buy whatever release.

If they released She's A Rainbow and a few others between 2021 and 2024, so what if it's on HONK: how many times is ABCDEFG on live albums!?

Who really needs or wants to hear the Stones' 2024 performance of Start Me Up compared to... when those are... and etc.

If there's a thought process in various cubicles or offices or text groups about a live Stones album and the HOT ROCKS/REWIND era dominates -

Oh wait - except for the suckers who will buy it on vinyl.

So, on a finer note, those they should fire for being archaic should be fired for being mired in the past. Because it shows how out of touch "they" are. "They" being involved in the 18 month HD plan.

If folk want to buy stuff on vinyl ,listen to the latest live performance ,buy another compilation etc that’s their personal choice. Each to their own and freedom of choice. To call those people “suckers “ is insulting many people.I Often wonder what the real issues are with people who are posting such nonsense.Take up a hobby such as gardening or walking the hills or simply get a life.

Well, I like them 'rough' and authentic, personally. Sure, a little 'touch-up', here and there, is OK; but when you're replacing an entire track, it's too much. Goodbye to Keith's - perfectly fine! - rhythm-guitar on the 'Racket performance' of Bite My Head Off; hello to the studio-track! It's a travesty, and I honestly can't listen to it. We all thought the Rock Off edit from 'Live Licks' was bad... until this!

Hmm.. if the idea really is to use the 'window' you talked about earlier in order to sell the product a bit more than some odd vaults release - that is, charm people outside the hardcore porn circles - I think the UMG people would and should seriously think including tracks like "Start Me Up". That is similar thinking as the one behind making set lists. That the Stones have already released million other versions of those tracks, like performed them in the past, doesn't matter: if people want to hear the Stones live - stage or recording - they want to hear those tunes. Yeah, add there some "Time is On my Side" with Irma Thomas to make the difference to hardcore fans (they complain a lot, but they are easy to excite, really), but mostly, if you want to sell the item, try to please the taste of softcore porn.

If there is something to learn from the past as far as 'fresh live' albums go, do not skip the big hits. NO SECURITY was such an attempt - they over-estimated the amount of fans of hardcore porn - and the album flopped commercially big time. As a flop for a new substantive Rolling Stones release it was - to use a current American idiom - "something you have never seen before". It could also be their last real 'live album' since I think after that flop they actually lost the interest for live album concept (both artistically and commercially), and started releasing those without much thought or care (LOVE LICKS really is an early symptom of that). Plus, at least for a while, DVD format took commercially over (by fulfilling the function of the 'fresh' live albums).

And Skippy - in your list of fresh live albums you ignored the freshest of them all: GOT LIVE IF YOU WANT IT!

We all thought the Rock Off edit from 'Live Licks' was bad... until this!

What did Bill once say about Ronnie: "A young boy. Do not know much". If you boys are shocked by those edits, go and check GOT LIVE IF YOU WANT IT!..grinning smiley

Not sure if I am in a minority, but I kinda miss the old-school live albums. I would really like a No Security/Live Licks style compilation live album from the HAckney Diamonds tour.
