I’m also guessing mailexile67 is on the right track in the post above. I know nothing about a Black and Blue rerelease. I didn’t think to ask about it. I was too excited hearing that they were recording again. And what we were listening to.

I had called my Stones friend fearing that we had seen the last of the band. Luckily we could meet for beer/fish&chips the following week. Not easy as we live in different countries. Nonsense he said, they are together now, prob having fish and chips, back at blank hotel, and recording at blank studio.

Jagger was playing acoustic guitar singing some words and many LaLaLa’s-song ideas! Maybe 30 second simple tune clips for further work. Short rudimentary undeveloped tunes only on acoustic with undeveloped vocals. Perhaps an impediment to new music for years past was Jagger writing and finishing songs on his own. This must have been the solution, short undeveloped ideas shared in advance. Left plenty of room for Keith and Jagger to finish in person.

Fully Finished Outakes came up. I thought all the material was on the leaked cd. He said there is another 2 cd’s of material not quite as completed. But Stones management was super pissed and stopped any further trading by doing an aggressive and threatening leak search.

This is extremely exciting. It's always a surprise to come in and hear actual news about another album, and even a teaser clip of Mick in the studio. I can't believe it's all really happening. They're working on another album and it might not be too much longer before they release it. I like Mick's singing in the clip.

Keep rolling, Stones!

Georgelicks--is that from insider knowledge or an educated guess?

One or two indoor shows right around the album release are a real possibility, as was the Racket show.

Georgelicks, could you tell where and how big these shows are expected to be? I'm putting on hold my holiday plans for the chance to see them live for the first time, but if it will be as the Racket, I'll know that I won't have a chance, at least in this year.

I agree about missing an opportunity with not releasing WWW and Bite My Head Off as singles from HD, those were my kids faves. And Get Close would’ve been great as a single to accompany the tour. I guess it’s all down to budgets and maybe interest and time concerns from the band itself. C’est la vie. Hopefully another new album this year but ultimately just wishing good health and happiness to all the band members and maybe a 2026 tour. We shall see.

Do singles mean anything anymore? Angry to kick off the album and then what?

Surely they mean, probably more nowadays than ever, but - like georgelicks pointed out above - not for legacy acts like the Stones. I mean, there are no places in media - hot play lists, radio, telly - in where anyone is interested in playing those. So no impact on charts plus very low stream numbers. There is not really a function for those any longer. Well, if a few hardcore fans and collectors purchase a physical copy for their archives, that's it. I guess the record company thought that the first singles released (with one hot and controversial video to get maximal attention) before the album was out - to get some sort of a word out that there is a new Stones album soon coming out - was enough. A mission accomplished as far as releasing singular songs go.

Probably not for a legacy act.

Sabrina Carpenter's singles did fantastic.

What do you suppose made that happen? The age of most Stones fans don't care anymore? Sabrina did fantastic videos and her (younger) fans are interested in hearing the different versions?

All first singles (trailers) by the Stones from 1971 onward were the most successful Charting and selling of whatever amount of singles released per album.

If on tour, it's likely the song will be played live. It could be a remix, or a "remix", or an edited version that gets right to the point.

At this point for legacy acts it's just a moment of attention with very little to no meaning culturally but the Stones did play all three singles during the 2024 tour. First show all 3 were played. Not every show. Ok so Mick was flat most of the time. Whatever.

The general consensus is a week after a Stones album is released it dives off the charts - so why bother with more singles... well, that may be a reason to bother. So it doesn't make the Top 200 again, which these days is a much more fiercer competition than the 1960s-1990s, but since it's 95% about streaming, there may be a bit of a bump up in the LP streaming.

There may be some old skool with the idea of an artist/band being present in society during a tour by releasing singles that doesn't work anymore, which is just as no different as why bother releasing LPs on CD and vinyl when that's all dead money.

Some acts involve old and new skool ways. Anyone signed with a big label has no say in the format which is why I have a Teddy Swims CD and it's not just streaming.

Some indie acts are available via streaming. It's 2025 and there are more options for listening to an album than ever before.

That's really weird.

These 3 sound very promising, especially the second one, they haven't sounded like this in decades, the previous one not so much, sounds like a PC outtake TBH !

There was also that song that Keith's daughter played on her FB page just before HD was released and that wasn't on the album.

Because of what they said which included Charlie sessions?

5 songs on EXILE were France recordings, regarding available information, which is part of the 13 that were done in Los Angeles, the rest were "old songs".

TATTOO YOU was 100% "old songs".

Both were new albums.

my thoughts were that since these snippets of new songs that mick shared over the last few years weren't included on hackney diamonds they may very well turn up on the new album that's being worked on and would be of interest because of that

it didn't occur to me that others might mistake these as new clips from recent times

i should have provided dates and context for them

i'm sorry bv

Not sure, but I don't think Keith, Ronnie, Steve and Andrew Watt would be involved (at least not all of them) if it were for BAB 2026.
