Concerning the possibility of late summer / fall concerts I just want to point out that in 2017 the No Filter concerts were announced in the beginning of May with first rumors starting end of April. So is a fall tour really off the table?

In 2017 Mick was 74 years old. In the fall this year Mick will be 82 years old. At the ages of 20’s 30’s etc you don’t change much but going from early 70’ to 80’s of age do make a change, also for SuperMick and his band mates.

They may still tour, but there is more to take care of, higher risk, more rest, all those things that is happening with the human body at that age. You can not just extrapolate previous touring history into current time.

Sure, you are right. But they were still so powerful in the States, and that was just one year ago...

Certainly the desire to be onstage will hit them at some point. I believe there would be a struggle for Mick to accept scaling back the event. Personally this is my belief why the euro tour was cancelled. I think the promoters didn't meet their demands and Mick wouldn't accept a decrease in anything. Maybe I said this before, sorry if so. Anyhow it's all speculation as usual. But we're closer to the end than the beginning. Hopefully there's some more magic in the tank.

i'm of the opinion that it's done when it's done and at the moment they seem healthy and it's clear that they really like performing (they'd have to be to continue doing two hour stadium concerts into there 80's)

i think as long as the very real threats that there ages poses to them don't rear there ugly heads anytime soon then it's a certainty that they'll perform again

less of a chance then 10 years ago but still a good chance

though bv's last few comments in this thread have me a bit concerned because of there less then optimistic tone

he's privy to more inside information and rumors then the rest of us so i hope he's just trying to be realistic and not raise our hopes to high in case of the real possibility (given there ages) that its over

and not because he's hearing things from sources that lead him to believe it is indeed over

Something's up. Think of Micks appearance at the Grammy's. Seems he really enjoyed being on stage. For a brief moment it felt like the start of a concert, the rush of applause. The desire must be there. Maybe a full concert is too much anymore, plus consider Keith and Ronnie. Maybe they're not up for it. Maybe the alternative is do shorter setlists and fewer concerts. Would people accept this, including Mick. Will be interesting to see. On the other hand I absolutely believe there's more music coming.

there were those rumors (a friend a friend said types) that steve jordan was told that they're done with big tours and they'll just be doing one off performances or festivals from now on

but i'm not sure how much faith to put into those rumors

but judging from the bits and pieces of information we've got from the scrapped european tour they seem to be leaning towards doing multiple shows in several cities (perhaps to cut back on all the travel they have to do on tour)

maybe this as others have suggested is what there considering instead tours in many different cities instead just a few cities but multiple shows in each

might be nice for some of there older fans to not having to travel to so many different cities/countries to follow a tour

on a different note it's a little weird ronnie hasn't made any live appearance yet this year

in 2023 (when there was a break in touring with the stones) he was quite active onstage every few weeks somewhere it seemed

probably means nothing but it's odd to me

ProfessorWolf, good point about the lack of Ronnie playing live. Maybe he's doing something with The Faces in secrecy? I think he'd do something by summertime.

The Stones expressed enjoying recording the new record.

They obviously enjoyed playing songs from it on the 2024 tour. Although not a lot of it was played live, they mixed it up a bit but they didn't drop the amount, unlike the 2005-07 tour to where it was an afterthought.

That's an anomaly.

I see no reason to think otherwise in regard to whatever they're doing. New album, cool. No? Maybe more HD songs played live for a continuation of the HD tour.

They're not done. They've got just a few years left in them.

It's not over. Bizarrely as it seems. They're not letting their age dictate their career, they are dictating their career because they know they're now old.

The day Mick sings too flat for too long, Keith plays way too many chords wrong, Ronnie... well, ha ha... is the day The Rolling Stones stop.

2026 will probably be it. I say that, right, maybe they do ABC here, EFG there, continent wise.

Or they tour the usual 14-17 shows a couple more times and it truly stops in 2028 which isn't far away, but by then they'll be into their mid-80s.

Except for Ronnie, the young boy, of course.

Mick and Keith at 85 years old - that's probably a good time to stop. They might think this but age will determine that.

The only thing they're proving is that it can continue. Other than that, it's just the joy of playing. A new record helps. The expansion of the discography has continued - it may continue one more album.

They said it.

Culturally they are beyond amazing, having continued, depending on how far back one wants to look and in regard with what 'continued' means, but they've kept going. Willie Nelson is 91 and...

well he's rumored to be playing glastonbury with rod stewart and there seems to have been more work done on that new faces album

plus he could be working on the new stones stuff remotely too

2025 is the year for finishing and launching another new album. Hence no tour, despite one being planned.

Another album is a long-term legacy piece of work. They must be thinking very seriously about legacy now, and there is a limit to how long they want to work each year. Lets face it most people retire from work 10-20 years younger.

A tour is great, but won't be there for another 50 or 100 years. An album will.

If everyone is fit and healthy, and lets hope they are for their own sake more than ours!, then who knows about touring in 2026. My bet is Europe.

More than ever, I have to simply say: I do not know.

I've said that after every tour I've followed; however, time was evidently on their side in 2003; 2007; etc. Now, it simply isn't.

I went to the Ridgedale show because it could be The Last Time. I hope it is not but if it is I was there. At this point in their life if they want to "retire" whatever that means I am good with it since I am doing the same albeit much younger.

If anything was going to stop them, it would have been losing Charlie. Only illness or infirmity will completely shut them down imo. So who knows. Grateful for what we have, and it's enough, but anything new would be exciting.

Big announcement on 5/8 regarding celebration of Ronnie joining the band 50 years ago. I would guess it means some shows, even if just a few one offs. I doubt they get ready for just one.

I think they should have waited until next year. After all, he was on hire in ‘75, and toured with the Faces afterwards, no? His 1976 unveiling would be accurate, IMO. Still, 2025 does have a nicer ring to it.

Seems like the "they" behind this is Ronnie. Based on last week's posts on his socials, it looks like "Ronnie 50" is a book with his artwork.

Before I went to the Sphere to see Dead & Co. a couple weeks back, I thought there was no chance the Stones would play it, but after experiencing that venue, where the venue itself does a lot of the heavy lifting—immersive video, lights, vibe—and the performers don’t need to hit the road, I think it might work for the aging Stones. Less demanding for Mick (bit like some of the small theater shows like the Fonda or Beacon). Apparently they’re building one in London? They could charge whatever the market would bear, which would be a lot, then plug-and-play like the Eagles. One catch is that most of those shows books successive nights, but there’s probably a way around that.

They are not building one in London. They wanted to but the mayor told the Dolans to pound sand.

As dapsyknows said, no. It's been over a year since it was cancelled.

Well, talk is cheap: he was a hired hand until 1992 (or so) when he finally had a full membership. So probably they should waited until 2042...grinning smiley

Or probably better just leave the contracts and talks aside and stick to the date when he actally started playing with the band on stage and be "one of the boys'. 1975 that is.

Well, he was announced as a member of the group in 1976. What happened in 1992, was that he became a member of the corporation, or whatever it is. Surely that's something totally different??

What's all this downbeat chat about doing maybe one last tour?? Gloomy postings about MAYBE one more album?? There is no reason why the band cannot go on for at least another five years. They are not that old. Ronnie is not even eighty yet and Mick and Keith are still only in their early eighties. If they go on until 2030 Mick will be eighty six and Keith eighty five. Mick is well capaable of being the front man at that age. Keith is relatively less pressured in his role and ronnie has years on both of them.

My bet is 2030 with a mega world-wide farewell tour, a final studio album, and the kind of ending we always knew they really wanted.

Realistically nothing. Except maybe a re-release with bonus material or something. Otherwise I think they are done. I think they should do like Springsteen though and do a big sweep of unreleased material.
While they are still able to. Before it's too late. They have nothing more to show. They did the last album and they have toured enough now.
